Elizabeth Holmes' greatest reckoning, ironically, is that all she'll forever be remembered for is the Nathan Fielder movie he won an oscar for . Oh how sweet is the taste of autistic comeuppance. Weaponize your tism ladies and gents.

Just saw the Elizabeth Holmes/Nathan Fielder movie. You know how in “Heat” De Niro and Pacino only appear together in the diner scene but it’s two apex predators in their prime facing off against each other? This movie is like that but for the apex autists in their field.

There's nothing stopping Tao from continuing to do math the "romantic way" with no AI and Hagoromo chalk. Truth is mathematicians like solving problems, as long as they're the ones solving them. Tao liked the "hero era" of math because he's one of the heroes.
Mathematician Terence Tao: "we're seeing the end of the romantic era of mathematics, the age of heroes. we're moving into an industrial era where math becomes large-scale, done in big teams like the other sciences" We're entering, rather unwillingly, a new era where exciting new things are possible, but some things are being lost

Man taught me what a synthetic CDO was, before the Big Short. Makes me sad.
I’m told Perry Mehrling has passed away. His money and banking course at Barnard was hugely formative for me and many others. This is an awful year for social thought. And I’m afraid we’re not producing many people of that caliber who can fill the ranks.

Anger is positively associated with creative performance.
Being angry helped people solve 39% more puzzles on a difficult task and perform better on a challenging video game. The advantage was seen on hard tasks, not easy ones.

Today we’re laying off a large part of the Airtable team. This is not a reflection of their work but a reflection of our deep belief that small teams ship more and better. For Airtable, better is about to look like: - A new Core team shipping your top requests monthly (already 30+ shipped in 3 weeks) - Upgraded Omni, Airtable Canvas, a stronger MCP, and BYO agents, coming soon - New Performance and Infra teams focusing on speeding up bases and increasing limits on records, fields, and syncs To everyone leaving: thank you. If you’re hiring, these are excellent people and worth a call.

Just reading the tea leaves. Call it like I see it. Struggle will remain your middle name, because you lack objectivity. "Part of a family", lmao. Ngmi if we don't know how NY moves. The motto is - Mind ya Business. NY will chew you up and spit you back across the Atlantic.

Replying to @nypost
I pulled the entire court record. She was not some dangerous, abusive mother. The case against her was essentially that she disparaged the father, allegedly interfered with his relationship with their child, and, as a Brazilian immigrant mother, could supposedly flee. Meanwhile, he was a partner at a prestigious Houston law firm. He knew exactly how catastrophic those allegations could become once fed into the family court machine, and he kept feeding them into it until the mother of his child was stripped of virtually all her maternal rights. So spare me the posthumous rewrite where he becomes some innocent man “following the court system”, blindsided by an inexplicable tragedy. He had vastly more power, money, institutional fluency, and credibility than she did, and he used every ounce of it against her. Fuck him.
