🚨 IRAN CONFLICT — DAY 5 Here are 10 major developments shaping the situation right now: 1.A U.S. Navy submarine reportedly destroyed the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena roughly 40 nautical miles from Sri Lanka. Rescue teams pulled 32 sailors from the sea. With fighting now reaching the Indian Ocean, the conflict is expanding far beyond the Middle East. 2.An Iranian drone hit a British RAF installation in Cyprus, putting the United Kingdom directly into the line of fire. 3.Iraq has begun shutting down its largest oil operations. With the Strait of Hormuz blocked, exporting crude is nearly impossible. A country capable of producing around 4 million barrels per day is now facing severe economic pressure due to geography alone. 4.Global aviation is heavily disrupted. More than 4,000 flights are being canceled daily, with airlines such as Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, British Airways, Lufthansa, Air India, and Virgin Atlantic suspending routes. Dubai International Airport, normally the busiest airport on the planet, has been forced to halt operations leaving hundreds of thousands of travelers stranded and losses climbing into the billions. 5.In Washington, the U.S. Senate voted 53–47 against limiting President Trump’s war authority. Only one Republican ,Rand Paul voted in favor of blocking further escalation. The measure did not pass. 6.Israel is reportedly planning to move its national elections forward to June or July 2026, a move many analysts believe could help Prime Minister Netanyahu politically while the country is at war. 7.The global response is forming clear geopolitical blocs: Countries supporting the strikes: Ukraine, Germany, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, France Countries opposing them: China, Russia, Pakistan, Brazil, Spain, Norway, North Korea Analysts say the divide resembles the most significant geopolitical split since the Cold War. 8.Roughly 1,600 American citizens remain in the Middle East.
