Everyone is celebrating Harry Kane winning the Ballon d’Or, but if you actually deep it, this is one of the reason Cristiano Ronaldo remains the GOAT of FOOTBALL.
Cristiano Ronaldo winning the Ballon d’Or at 23 and still being the LAST player to win it while playing in the Premier League is one of the most phenomenal and underrated achievements in football history.
Let that sink in.
Nearly two decades later, the Premier League has seen world class players come and go, record breakers, Golden Boot winners, Champions League winners and some of the biggest names in football. Yet nobody has repeated what Ronaldo did.
And this is exactly why the Harry Kane conversation makes Ronaldo’s achievement look even more extraordinary and crazy
Kane spent years in the Premier League scoring goals and establishing himself as one of its greatest strikers, but the major team trophies kept eluding him. He eventually left England at 30, joined Bayern Munich, and finally got his first major team trophy. Now, he has reached the Ballon d’Or summit.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, reached that summit at just 23, while still playing in England. In that same season, he scored 42 goals, won the Premier League and Champions League, claimed the Premier League Golden Boot and finished as the Champions League’s top scorer.
Ronaldo did not need to leave England to prove he was the best. He became the best player in the world right there, against the very competition people now use to measure greatness.
THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE.
Kane’s story is a remarkable breakthrough. Ronaldo’s was a historic takeover.
And almost 20 years later, not one Premier League player has managed to repeat it.
When I say Cristiano Ronaldo was a different breed, THIS is what I mean. His greatness was not just about the trophies he won. It was about the level he reached, the age at which he reached it, and the fact that nobody from the Premier League has matched that feat since.
So yes, celebrate Harry Kane. He deserves his flowers.
But never forget just how extraordinary Cristiano Ronaldo was and why he is FOOTBALL.

This woman complained about how a guy kept wanting a hookup after going on a date with her.
A lot to unpack here, but here are my thoughts: ✍️
1. Guy is "tall" and "cute" and "rich," so he's dead in the water to begin with. The girl was going to dangle the pussy HARD to try to lock him down for the trophy husband-material position in her life. Her ultimate show pony. She wasn't going to just waste him on a lousy hookup. The "tall" and "rich" really did him in.
2. You can't just badger the girl over and over again about hooking up when you haven't been escalating on her and making her feel something, she'll just keep saying "no" in different ways. Persistence pays, but not in this way.
3. Guy shouldn't have set up platonic public dates if he wanted a hookup -- that confuses the girl. Notice how, even if I do public dates, it's ALWAYS 2 minutes' walk from my house AND at a venue with cozy seating that facilitates a shit ton of physical escalation?
4. Guy could have flirted a little more during texting to ensure she had sexual intentions, but he didn't because he didn't have anyone else lined up anyway, so what's the harm in rolling the dice? This is a bad strategy, as you'll end up wasting time and money.
5. Guy was in town for a few days anyway, what the fuck did she expect out of him? To drop everything in his home city to move in with her? 😂
In the end, she wasn't going to put out either way.
But that doesn't mean he couldn't have done things better on his end.
His biggest mistake, as always, was not screening her before asking her out.
This is why I keep saying game is mostly screening, and I'm the only guy who says it.
Because this is the level of insight you can only get after a certain level of body count. 🙂
