🛑✋👉 Update! We have received an Equus Grant which will help with the rest of Mercy's Vet and Burial costs so we should have everything covered in addition to the $1505 that we have raised. Mercy's Vet bill came to $1473.17. Her purchase price from the Lot was $750, transport to Vet Clinic $80 and we are still waiting on the burial fee. Thank you so much to everyone that shared, cared and donated to help us help Mercy and the Equus Foundation. We wish Mercy could have lived many more years but her condition and the infection was too much for her to overcome. She is finally at peace. No more suffering. 🙏🕯

To keep speaking about increasing the foal crop and the ridiculous Mare Incentive program tells us that they have not taken the issue of Thoroughbred broodmares ending up in the lower end auction/slaughter pipeline serious or that they are going to do anything about it. 😢💔😢💔😢💔😢💔 🌈🌈🌈 Update! Run free sweet girl ! We picked Mercy up from the Lot today and she was having trouble breathing. She was taken to the Vet Clinic for diagnostic tests, bloodwork, ultrasound, scope, Xrays. This poor mare had such a horrific sinus infection that it went in to the bone. The vet flushed her sinuses and the pus and matter was so horrendous and still could not remove it all. Her nasal passages were narrowed. The vet said they have never seen one this bad. Mercy's left hind hock injury also had infection in the bone. Mercy was at least 200 lbs underweight as she only weighed 900 lbs. We believe she was in her mid twenties. The vet felt with her age and the severe and long term infection that she would not be able to overcome it. We made the decision to let Mercy cross over the Rainbow Bridge this evening. 🌈 No one can hurt her anymore. Her life mattered. We don't have the total amount of her Vet bill but it will be quite large so we are going to keep our PayPal Donation link up for anyone that would like to help us with those costs. Our initial fundraiser for Mercy raised $1270 but we still need to raise the remaining $1430 to help toward her veterinary costs. She is in bad shape and also has a severe left hind hock injury and is very lame. We want to get her off of the lot and to quarantine and seen by a veterinarian ASAP. We are naming her Mercy for now. She is no longer just Tag 478. We have secured a retirement place for her if she can pull through. She will be going to beautiful Mereworth Farm, in KY. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🦷🦷👉 Update! Wild n' Wild and Red's Dividend are at the end of their quarantine. Last week their teeth were floated and they were vaccinated and nasal swabbed. Red was also checked for pregnancy and she is not in foal thank goodness. This week their feet will be trimmed. Soon they will be headed to @Mereworth_Farm Farm in KY where they will be retired and forever safe. Both were rescued from the Stroud, OK lot. Neither deserved to be there, both deserve to live and be taken care of. Their lives matter! ❤️❤️

Countless thoroughbred mares are ending up at cheap auctions and then feedlots/kill pen. Our organization has rescued many of them. Sadly one thoroughbred mare died this past week at a feedlot. It is a disgrace and cruel what is happening to these mares. Stop wanting to increase the foal crop until you take care of the first problem. The long term welfare and safety of the mares that give life to the industry must be the priority first and not creating more horses that may meet the same fate.

Both are sweet girls although Burnie is more standoffish. Per the lot Burnie supposedly had a foal weaned from her recently which from what we can tell it would not have been a TB foal. Regardless, think of the trauma, having your foal separated from you then ending up at a cheap auction and then a feedlot. We all must demand change and protection for broodmares because it is flat out wrong what is happening to them and continues to happen. 😢💔 Bizzar Brown lost her life because some uncaring person or persons, bred her, dumped her and then she ends up at an auction then a feedlot aborting her foal. The mindset of so many breeders that these mares are just disposable has got to change. These mares lives matter and if you do not think so then you have no business owning or breeding horses. Period. We have a good idea for a program for mares to help circumvent them ending up in the auction/slaughter pipeline but the Thoroughbred industry must invest the funds and in the infrastructure to accomplish it. All served the Thoroughbred industry and none of them deserved to end up at a feedlot. Bizzar Brown should have been on this trailer too but she sadly died at the feedlot 💔 N P Burns has taken her place so in BB's honor at least we could save another mare's life. Missy and Burns will be going to STES for quarantine and then Missy will go to Happened By Chance and Burns will remain at STES. Partyinmotion was placed by a private party and we have helped to arrange her transport to Hunt, TX. 🔥Folks, things have got to change for these Thoroughbred mares that served the industry. 💔💔💔💔😢😢😢 We were notified late today that Bizzar Brown aka BB passed away at the lot. To say that we are absolutely heartbroken is an understatement. We could see BB was in very poor shape when she first arrived at the lot and she had lost a foal. After bailing her we had the lot put her in a separate area with hay and water.The lot said she had been eating and drinking. We have no more information than that. It has been a difficult week in more ways than one and trying to get transport, then we rescued Brilliant Missy at the same lot so had to fundraise for Missy. We finally secured transport today. In the meantime, a new Thoroughbred mare came in to the same lot today named N P Burns. We are rescuing NP Burns to now take BB's place. Although, we do not defend feedlots, we do know that many of the horses they buy at lower end auctions are already in horrific shape because of previous abuse and neglect. We don't know if we could have gotten BB transported to quarantine sooner if she would have survived long term or not and sadly we will never know now. We do know that we do not want BB to have died in vain. That is why we are posting her deceased picture. The best thing you can do to honor her and to help other Thoroughbred mares that keep ending up at lower end auctions/feedlots is to contact the Jockey Club and state breeding associations in your state and demand that they provide the funding and create the infrastructure that is needed to protect these mares that served the industry. And to hold people in the industry accountable when they throw these mares to the wolves. We do not know who is at fault for BB ending up in the condition she did and in foal, we do not think it was a TB foal but mostly likely a crossbred. Regardless, she did everything that was asked of her and she sure as the hell did not deserve to die at a feedlot. She had the kindest eyes. It absolutely breaks our hearts that she died alone at a feedlot. 💔😢💔 And for the person or persons that abused and neglected her and then dumped her and her baby, may there be a special place in hell for people like you. 🔥 From the winner's circle to the breeding shed to the cheap auction and then the feedlot.
