Longevity Lightning Talks in Cambridge, MA: Preston Estep, Dan Elton, and Gennady Stolyarov II youtube.com/watch?v=Z1XgwfjW… On Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 1 p.m. U.S. Pacific Time, 4 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, watch a stream of three presentations that were recorded at the Longevity Lightning Talks in Cambridge, Massachusetts, organized by Dan Elton, PhD (@moreisdifferent), the @USTranshumanist Party’s Director of Scholarship, and held on October 9, 2026. This Virtual Enlightenment Salon delves into vaccination and other forms of protection against viruses, as well as a presentation on transhumanist politics and its continuing relevance in our time. Members of the public will be able to post questions and comments in the live YouTube chat. Preston Estep, PhD (@PrestonWEstep) – Longevity Effects of Pathogen Countermeasures Dr. Preston Estep explores how various pathogen countermeasures, such as advanced vaccine technologies and yeast-based oral vaccines, can act as proactive strategies to support longevity. He highlights compelling evidence linking shingles and influenza vaccinations to a significant reduction in the risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer's disease. He further advocates for protecting the immune system early in life to maintain its vigor and mitigate the effects of immunosenescence over time. Dan Elton, PhD – How to Protect Yourself from Viruses This presentation explores a "Swiss cheese" model for biodefense, advocating for multiple layers of protection against viral illnesses, including air filtration, UVC light, and high-quality masks. Dr. Elton further discusses proactive measures like nasal sprays and modernized variolation to stimulate immune responses without waiting for traditional vaccines. Dr. Elton’s presentation also highlights the development of genetically modified yeast vaccines capable of inducing mucosal immunity, offering a promising, scalable approach for future pandemic preparedness. Gennady Stolyarov II – The Continuing Relevance of Transhumanist Politics U.S. Transhumanist Party Chairman Stolyarov explains that the United States Transhumanist Party provides an alternative to polarized politics by focusing on using science and technology to overcome human limitations like involuntary death. He outlines the USTP's advocacy for radical life extension, expanded patient rights through frameworks like "Best Choice Medicine," and increased research funding to improve the human condition. Chairman Stolyarov also explains how the USTP serves as a stable, long-term organization that expands the Overton window to make ambitious scientific progress more accessible and acceptable to the general public. The Cambridge Longevity Lightning Talks were sponsored by The Metascience Observatory (@MetascienceObs) – metascienceobservatory.org/ – and the Mind First Foundation (@mind_first) – mindfirst.foundation/.

thinkglobalhealth.org/articl… Global health funding fell again in 2026. Meanwhile there's no vaccine accessible to combat Bundibugyo tearing through central Africa. Pandemic countermeasures are universally underweight, and local capacity is pitiful. This is why we Radvac.

Great overview of proposed drivers of global-scale AI risks, with references. A must read
Everyone is arguing about global-scale AI risks, but many remain poorly informed about key published ideas and risk factors. Here is my intro for newbies to old hands, doomers to zoomers. prestonestep.substack.com/p/…

Respiratory illness/flu season is coming! If you want to avoid being sick you need to read my substack post Modernizing Variolation Part 2 prestonestep.substack.com/p/…. Modernized Variolation methods are easy and I have used them to avoid four consecutive respiratory illnesses in my home.
Check out my Substack post: Modernizing Variolation, Part 2. A case report on the second consecutive time I avoided getting ill by using MV when all others living in my home were sick with a respiratory illness. prestonestep.substack.com/p/… If your kids are back in school you need to read this!

We don’t need to freak out and expect another pandemic, but this is an example that Russia’s bioweapons program is real, and it’s morally imperative that we improve our defenses against pandemic
Russia's five-hospital quarantine, FSB involvement, and reported hazmat use in response to the death of a single researcher at a weapons-lineage Irkutsk lab are inconsistent with a lab-acquired plague infection, which would have been treated with prophylactic antibiotics. 1/4

Vaccines work, and will work against future pathogens (engineered and otherwise) but the way humanity currently takes them from design to deployment is vastly outdated and underpowered. Same true of antivirals. @radvacproject needs to be expanded, and tried in earnest at scale.

We have measured 47,851 neutralization titers of current human sera vs current influenza strains to inform vaccine update & analyses of viral evolution. New H1N1 strains (eg, D.3.1.1 + G155E) have reduced neutralization, as do some H3N2 subclade K descendants. biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

I think @RADVACproject would help with this also. Special class on immuno-hacking and what it means in an age of high pandemic probability.

This paper is a goldmine on scientific self-experimentation. -14 Nobel Prizes have gone to self-experimenters. - Of 465 scientific self-experiments documented over a 203-year period, there have been 8 deaths. - The most recent recorded death from a self-experiment was in 1928, when Alexander Bogdanov injected himself with an incompatible blood type. - Many universities say that self-experimentation would require IRB approval because it violates "ethical norms for medical research," which is not true; the Nuremberg Principles make an explicit exception for people experimenting on themselves, and the Declaration of Helsinki just says the subject must consent. Also, "there is no law nor regulation identified that requires investigators experimenting on themselves to consult an ethics committee." - There are lots of recent self-experiments; "In 2014, Philip Kennedy had electrodes implanted into his speech center to further his research on direct brain interfaces. In 2016, Alex Zhavoronkov self tested drugs which his software algorithms identified as likely candidates."
