Could it be that the tag line of the election will be “it’s women, stupid”

Very detailed and rigorous response - definitely worth reading the very comprehensive response the authors wrote But more so: read the original article! It has an novel theory, new data and extensive quant AND qual evidence and really pushes forward our knowledge on the topic

🥇🥈🥉 The final medal ceremony of Paris 2024 is for the women’s marathon. A highly symbolic way to wrap up the first-ever Olympic Games with full gender parity. 💜 #Paris2024 #ClosingCeremony

In all the post election reflections this is worth keeping in mind with re to distribution of party support in the electorate 👇👇
I just can’t get past Labour winning 65% of seats off 34% of the vote. Absolutely wild mismatch between the headline result and, well, everything else. Britain is now a multi-party system, and first-past-the-post can’t cope.

Somewhat desperate plea but I’m being kicked out for a week due to renovations and really struggling to find somewhere for myself and my cat to live for a week, beginning of June. I tried my college who said no with Luna. Anyone in Oxford have any ideas? Please?!

As the dust has settled, happy to share I’ve now started a job with the 🇨🇦 federal government as a sr economist. A bit of a change as I joined ISED and will be working on industrial policy, but looking forward to learning about this new area

This likely means fewer tweets on gender, public opinion, voting and women’s leadership from my side. Though I definitely will keep following the field and all the cool research that’s produced :)

If that recent FT piece on gender/age gaps in attitudes caught your interest then the thread below is a must read 👇👇 (as is Rosie’s book!)
Given the renewed interest in political gender gaps, especially amongst younger voters, I thought I'd place these debates in context and link to a few pieces by myself and others which have investigated these questions in Britain and beyond... 1/12

Nice to see gender and values getting coverage in the FT! Funnily enough I’ve just started a paper trying to get into this better, as I think it’s important we understand the extent to which this is the case and why much more fully…
An ideological gender gap appears to be emerging within Gen Z, and the consequences could be far-reaching, writes @jburnmurdoch on.ft.com/3u8TGyk

It’s beginning to look a lot like… moving time! I came to the U.K. in 2011 and have gone from MPhil, DPhil, Postdoc to Lecturer here. U.K. academia has been my home for a long time and I’m very grateful for the friends, peers and mentors I’ve worked with 🙏

Lots has changed since 2011, and with time it simply became too difficult to live our lives across three countries and two continents. As such we’re moving our little family to Ottawa, Canada 🇨🇦 where I’ll join the Canadian federal government as a civil servant
