Want to Make a Lie Seem True? Say It Again. And Again. And Again

Welcome to the “illusory truth effect,” a glitch in the human psyche that equates repetition with truth.

Interesting that the top 2 movies have characters who lose everything and have characters who obsessed about relationships with someone. Im sure there totally isnt a cultural message there at all.

This is private equity, this is what it does. Buy up businesses, run them into the ground, and rip them apart for short-term profit. The developers at BioWare know how to run the studio. They know how to make the games we all love. They should be given the first opportunity - and the federal support - to buy it and run it themselves. And if we want to avoid the Mass Effect effect in Canada, we should be keeping private equity out, not welcoming it in. pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/…

RIP BioWare: EA has shut down the legendary RPG developer

Bloomberg also reports that EA is cutting "around 400 jobs" across the company.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know

People will make fun and say whalefalls premise is completely unrealistic while in the same breath say their favorite movie of the years plot involves a magic wish giving willow
20
Whalefall is easily in the top 5 best movies about a person getting swallowed alive by a sperm whale! Also surprisingly emotional.

Ukraine just hit another Yandex data center inside Russia, and Cloudflare data shows automated traffic coming from Yandex’s network has collapsed to roughly 0.4% of its recent peak. For some perspective, researchers have previously estimated that bots generated roughly 21–29% of U.S. Twitter content. With the U.S. midterms just weeks away, the timing is pretty interesting.

Have we considered the possibility that Zelensky and Ukraine started the war with Russia specifically to sabotage President Trump and the GOP’s 2026 midterm hopes? I feel like we can’t rule this out.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Russia occupied Crimea in 2014 and launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022. Zelenskyy took office in 2019. The war predates 2026 midterms by years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russo-Ukr… politifact.com/factchecks/202…
