I splashed out on this a few years ago: The New Edinburgh Robert Louis Stevenson edition. It was the novel Stevenson was working on at Vailima when he died, aged only 44.
Robert Louis Stevenson‘s home 1888 to 1894: Vailima, Upola, Samoa. Had to cancel a trip here in 2016 and didn’t expect to pick it up again… but here I am.

Here is a story. A tale about one of the worst movies I've ever seen. That movie stars Eddie Izzard. It's called 'Dr Jekyll'. It is shit. Everything about it is bad. The story, the pacing, the setting, the acting... But especially Izzard. Here's a sample piece of dialogue.

Swanston Cottage remains unchanged since it was painted by Robert Hope in 1914. The cottage was leased by Robert Louis Stevenson’s parents, during the summer months, for the period of Stevenson's late teens to twenties (1867 until 1880). Such wonderful inspiration for a writer.

Happy Birthday to Arthur Conan Doyle! Doyle is most famous for his character Sherlock Holmes. Robert Louis Stevenson wrote to Doyle to congratulate him on his Sherlock Holmes stories, and the two authors continued to exchange letters and comment on each other's writing.

Can we all agree that Fanny Stevenson, a writer, received short shrift in “Portrait of Robert Louis Stevenson and his Wife,” by John Singer Sargent, currently at the @TateBritain?

John Yorke describes the midpoint as marking a ‘massive escalation in jeopardy’ from which there’s no turning back for the hero. Rereading Kidnapped, I open the book at the middle and find this: the assassination of the Red Fox…

Did you know that the first film adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 novel 'Treasure Island' was released in 1920? No trace of the film, other than a few poster prints, has been found to this day and it is considered a lost film.
