“Don’t ever coach a player for who they are today, you have to coach them for what you know they can become.”
A coach who cares about you won’t let your current habits limit your future.
That’s why they keep asking for more. They believe there’s more in you.

Stats don’t build culture.
Screens. Charges. Loose balls. Doing the little things for your teammates.
The things that don’t show up in the box score are often what make teams great.
“When you play for the name on the front, the back prospers.”

GREAT teams are about:
Team > Individual
Passing > Dribbling
Great shot > Good shot
Ball movement > Isolation
Winning > Stats
Day 2 I was able to support 2 of our Original TT players @Delaney_Matkin @AddisonHarding7 and their team @westerncowbb at their Luau in Oahu. Can’t wait to watch the games! Super proud of these girls & Delaney for all her work and commitment to the craft & her team overcoming 2 knee surgeries and never giving up.
Add who should be shooting those shots. Who’s your Green Light Shooters. Who are your best perimeter shooters, who lives shooting in a gym, whose your drivers. Establish Roles and communicate those roles.
Learn from the best! Love this and how Evo is giving back and making a difference!!!! College coaches will be getting one of the best kids around!!!
Basketball has been my life since I was six. Around 8th grade I noticed that not every kid gets the same chances I did, and I've been so lucky to have people who believed in me.
So in 2022 I started Global Ballers: free charity basketball camps for refugee and immigrant youth in Denver and Aurora, and a place for these kids to belong.
It's been my lifelong goal to make a positive impact on as many people as I can, and this is my outlet to support and nurture young athletes.
This Thanksgiving week (Mon & Tue, Nov 23-24) I'm running my last camp before I head off to college next fall, and it's our biggest one yet. It's free for kids in 1st to 7th grade, lunch is provided, and the goal is for every kid to take a basketball home.
If you know a kid who'd love to play, please send them our way! Sign-up takes a minute: forms.gle/j4coCRvK54XtTtb18
It would mean the world to me if you took a few minutes to read my story and check out the website. Any support or donations, big or small, mean so much, and I want to build something that keeps going long after I leave.

Come on @NBA what are we doing here!?!?!? I guess now we need to incorporate this into our skill work sessions! lol.
GIANNIS JUST “PASSED TO HIMSELF” IN TRANSITION, TOOK ABOUT 47 STEPS, AND THEY CALLED IT A BUCKET…
You literally cannot pass the ball to yourself in the NBA. That’s a travel every single time at every level…
But superstar privilege is alive and well. Refs let him Euro-step from half court like it’s nothing…
This is why casual fans tune out. Same rules don’t apply to everyone…
How many more of these “missed” calls are we supposed to ignore this season?
We 👀 you @Delaney_Matkin !! Continuing to do great things on and off the court, leading by example and making a difference! Such a joy to have coached over the years! Keep making a difference! #TheReboundWay
Congratulations to our 3 2029 National boys Soren West, Dublin Hartley, Brodee Matkin & our 2 2030 boys Bryce Cotton, Jackson Lucero for being selected and representing N. Colorado & Wyo so well. All 5 did their part playing great team basketball, big 3s, and selfless play. So proud of you all! @RL_Hoops @PrepHoopsCO
Was a great day and showing. Soren led the 2029s in Assists w/ 6, Brodee had a great shooting showing on his touches going 3/5 on 3 for 2029s, Dublin had a coast to coast finger role down the stretch. Our 2030's Jackson finished as a Game MVP, and Bryce handled the rock, distributed and great D! @PrepHoopsCO @RL_Hoops

Purposeful intentions, Purposeful effort, Purposeful movement/actions creates growth.
New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown delivers a powerful message to his players at practice…
He pulls his starting five aside, looks at the remaining players and tells them:
“Everybody else in this gym, you’re fighting — either to make the team or for minutes.”
I love this! Because it speaks to something I believe is fundamental to high performance sport… the intentionality of practice.
Practice isn’t simply a place to improve technical and tactical capabilities. It’s an opportunity to compete. To demonstrate who you are. To build the habits, behaviours, and mindset that serve you when the pressure is on.
And that requires intention. Deliberate, purposeful, relentless intention.
In my new book, Compete, I introduce the reader three psychological skills that underpin outstanding performance: Attention, Intensity, and Intent.
Attention: What are you focusing on during practice? Before each drill, identify the information you need to pick up. The positioning of a defender, the movement of a teammate, the space opening up. Stay connected to these cues, make decisions based on what you see and refocus quickly when distracted. Don’t just go through the motions. Be mentally present.
Intensity: Are you practising with the physical and mental intensity the situation demands? Sprint into position. Communicate with purpose. Compete for loose balls. React quickly when possession changes. Maintain your standards when fatigue sets in. And remember, intensity isn’t always about going flat out. It’s about bringing the right energy to each moment.
Intent: What are you trying to achieve today? Set a clear objective before practice. Perhaps it’s attacking space aggressively, making quicker decisions or responding positively after mistakes. Commit to demonstrating that behaviour throughout the session. Afterwards, reflect on whether your actions matched your intentions.
Because here’s the thing…
You don’t suddenly become an outstanding competitor when the game begins. You build the behaviours of an outstanding competitor in practice.
You build them when you’re tired. When you’re frustrated. When you’ve made a mistake. When you’re not getting the minutes you want. When nobody seems to be watching.
And this is where Brown’s message becomes so powerful.
He’s reminding his players that practice matters. That every possession is an opportunity to demonstrate something. That competition isn’t reserved for game day.
Of course, effective practice needs more than effort. It needs quality, feedback, reflection, and the freedom to experiment and make mistakes. But combine these ingredients with a High Performance Mindset and practice becomes an extraordinarily powerful environment for development.
My message to athletes is simple…
Don’t just turn up to practice. Compete with purpose. Train your mindset as deliberately as you train your game.
Because how you compete in practice helps shape how you compete when it matters most.

Every team has selfish players and selfless players.
The difference shows up when things aren’t going their way.
Do they make it about themselves or the team?
Great cultures put WE > ME.
Selfish or Selfless? Your choice.
Culture WINS 2:
