Van Halen at Texxas Jam at the Cotton Bowl, Dallas, Texas, July 1, 1978 Photo by Richard E. Aaron. This show is legendary not just for the heat (it was reportedly over 100 degrees that day), but because Van Halen played early in the lineup (around 2:30 PM) and stole the show. The band's equipment had been accidentally shipped to Chicago before the show, so they had to play using rented and borrowed gear, yet still delivered one of their most iconic performances.
