How can primary healthcare better respond to the different needs and barriers faced by women, men, girls, boys and underserved communities?
On 26 October, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Expertise France, we launched the process to develop and implement a Gender Action Plan for primary healthcare services in @Gicumbi_Rwanda.
The initiative will bring district health stakeholders together to identify gender-related barriers, strengthen inclusive service delivery and ensure that gender equality is reflected in health planning, budgeting and care. The work will also extend to @MusanzeDistrict, @GakenkeDistrict and @rulindodistrict over 18 months.

Preventing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) starts with raising awareness, challenging harmful social norms and ensuring people know their rights and where to seek support.
On 22–23 October, we held an #SGBV prevention activity at our Rubavu Centre under the @giz_rwanda -supported programme, contributing to ongoing efforts to promote safer communities, prevent abuse and improve access to information and support services.

Bridging gaps in healthcare requires collaboration, clear guidance and community involvement.
Today, through the Tubiteho Project, we brought together healthcare providers, local leaders, community-based organisations (CBOs) and peer educators in @KicukiroDistr to disseminate harm reduction guidelines and share evidence to strengthen support for people who use drugs.
The engagement focused on strengthening understanding of harm reduction, improving coordination between communities and health facilities, and promoting access to respectful, non-discriminatory health services.

Today, we were pleased to welcome Professor Akanni Akinyemi, Co-Chair of the Executive Committee of the African Coalition for Research and Communication on Abortion (ACORCA-COARCA), to HDI for a courtesy visit.
HDI Executive Director Dr @aflodiskagaba, accompanied by Sheila Odongo, ACORCA Secretariat Director, showed Professor Akinyemi different aspects of HDI's work, including our efforts to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights through service delivery, research and advocacy.
As the host of the ACORCA Secretariat, HDI values the opportunity to support this Africa-led coalition’s work to strengthen safe abortion research, promote evidence-informed advocacy and foster collaboration across the continent.
We appreciated the visit and the opportunity to share our work and exchange perspectives on advancing health and rights in Africa.
