I'd be much obliged if you gave my band's new album a few streams. We're pretty good at what we do.

I’m the primary cook in the house and most days I do very well. Then there are rare days like today where nobody likes it but me. It’s an internal conflict because, like, sorry you didn’t enjoy that but also what’s wrong with you, this is delicious?

Tragic
For those of you who are still being mislead by the fake news of the execution in Saudi. Here is what really happened. Now judge it yourself. Nazrul Islam and Sithi Akter, two Bangladeshi nationals employed as cleaning workers for the Bin Laden Group in Mecca, became romantically involved while commuting to work. Nazrul lived in a residential villa in Hayyal Iskan, while Sithi resided in Batha Kuraysh. In May 2023, the two engaged in illicit relations in a secluded stairwell room between Gates 85 and 87 of Masjidul Haram. Nazrul had asked an Indian acquaintance to stand guard downstairs, but the friend secretly recorded the encounter on video. Later, when the Indian national attempted to make advances toward Sithi and was rejected, he leaked the video online. The video quickly went viral, prompting immediate intervention by Saudi authorities, who successfully apprehended all three individuals. The Indian national received a 20-year prison sentence for recording and distributing the footage. Nazrul Islam and Sithi Akter were detained immediately following their arrest in May 2023. Nazrul had originally arrived in Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh between November 10 and 13, 2022. Following his arrest in May 2023, he remained incarcerated throughout a lengthy three-and-a-half to four-year judicial process leading up to October 2026. Throughout this period, official protocol dictated that the Saudi government notify the employer (sponsor) rather than foreign government authorities. Various rumors circulated online falsely claiming that the individuals were pilgrims performing Umrah or that the charges stemmed merely from public displays of affection. While the defendants were unmarried, the severity of the legal outcome was not solely based on the act of zina (adultery). Because the offense took place within the sacred precincts of Masjidul Haram, the court determined that they had severely violated the sanctity and honor of Islam's holiest mosque. Consequently, senior judges of the Supreme Court handed down the death penalty as an exemplary punishment aligned with Quranic principles and the Sunnah.

When my daughter was young, I had a can of "monster spray." Gets ride of the monsters. Spraying some of that under the bed, in the closet, etc., worked like a charm.
trying to build this skill when dealing with young kids please share any similar anecdotes or tactics that have worked for you

This is a pretty good rhetorical technique.
College professor left completely stumped after @KaiSchwemmer started talking in Spanish after the professor said he welcomed mass migration. Schwemmer: Would it be an issue if every city spoke a different language? Professor: No. Schwemmer: "Entonces sería bastante difícil si estuviéramos hablando, entendernos, porque nosotros no podemos entender lo que estamos diciendo y no podemos alcanzar tener respeto mutuo." Brilliant.

One important lesson to learn from this is that it’s important to be smarter, better educated, and more eloquent than your opposition.

"Art is political"? Then rent your own stage. Nobody paid for Tosca to hear a baritone's take on Gaza. Calgary Opera got it right. Enough with artists who think every stage is theirs to hijack. And that's before we even get to the opinion itself.

Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s scientific research is…odd. Arab mothers who engage in “interethnic mating” have worse birth outcomes than those who mate with Arab men? Also: Genetics, black race, and interracial mating? Why research this?  WTF?

A queer film festival in Switzerland has decided not to screen Tell Me Everything, a story about a young boy discovering his father is queer and the evolution of their relationship. Why? Because it is Israeli. I'm sure a group of Free Palestine activists will see this and insist that no, it has nothing to do with identity, but with the filmmakers' support for Israel's war with Gaza. Except the festival demanded that Moshe Rosenthal "declare his stance towards the current Israeli government." He did. He said that he does not support the government, he does not finance the government's policies, and he does not make films that promote the policies of the Israeli government. That wasn't enough. When Free Palestine tells you they are fine with "good" Jews, know they are lying. They were always going to boycott a queer story showcasing Israeli Jews.

Show me ‘round your fruit cage / And I will be your honey bee / Open up your fruit cage / With the fruit that is sweet as can be
I’m not sure I like anything enough to have to be covered in bees to eat it… But I will keep an open mind…

USA goes 1, 4, and 8 in the UCI World Championships. Alongside what’s been happening in Track & Field these days, I think it’s safe to say America is undergoing an endurance sport renaissance.
Definitely a brilliant edition of the World Champs with so many dramatic changes and the race exploded from far away. McNulty, a surprising winner but not very. I expected Simmons instead and he was 4th. USA was just the best team today and they nailed it. #Montreal2026

It's always going to drive me nuts that "obstacle course racing" became a big thing in America, but we can't beg our schools to set up European-style cross-country meets with the logs and hay bales and mud and stuff.

Finish this for a runner beating themselves up after a bad run: “One bad run does NOT mean __________.” Fill the blank.

The idea that the medical industry is just sitting on cures because the patients are women has always been so laughable to me. First, it assumes medical omnipotence; second, it assumes that men don't want women to be healthy and happy. Complete and utter poppycock.
For those in the comments who struggled to read: endometriosis affects women, and like many conditions that mainly affect women, it's been historically underfunded. If it affected men, it would've had the research funding decades ago. That's not an opinion, it's a fact.
