Messi's stats are actually UNDERWHELMING compared to what they could've been. 馃槶
For almost his entire career, teams had 3 or 4 players surrounding him, constant man marking, tactical fouls and entire defensive systems built just to stop ONE MAN.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo was often left to deal with individual defenders without teams restructuring their entire defence.
Messi wasn't just beating defenders. He was beating entire defensive strategies designed specifically to stop him.
And STILL produced ridiculous goals, assists, dribbles and playmaking numbers.
Imagine Messi playing without 3 defenders collapsing on him every time he touched the ball.
His numbers would've been absolutely ILLEGAL. 馃悙馃嚘馃嚪

Harry Kane winning his first Ballon d'Or actually made me appreciate Messi's career even more. 馃槶
Think about how difficult it is for a world-class footballer to win this award even ONCE.
Now imagine winning it EIGHT TIMES.
Different generations. Different teammates. Different tactical systems. Different versions of Messi.
And he still kept finding ways to be the best footballer on the planet.
We genuinely normalized something that should have been considered impossible.

Balde is WHAT?
馃毃 JUST IN: Balde is touched. His camp says that all messages meant to him have come from press conferences than direct meetings. He hoped Flick was more direct. @martinezferran #Transfers 馃挃

Anyone remember what Johan Cruyff said about a young Lionel Messi back in 2007?
He said Messi still needed to learn when to dribble and when to release the ball. Once he mastered that, he wouldn't win just one Ballon d'Or, but an entire collection.
And Messi went on to win EIGHT. 馃槶馃悙
I genuinely hope Lamine Yamal learns that same lesson with experience.
The talent is ridiculous already, but knowing when to take on defenders and when to pick the right pass is what separates a brilliant dribbler from a complete footballer.
Lamine is still so young. Imagine how good he could become once his decision making catches up with his natural ability.
Hopefully we get to witness another special Barcelona story. 鉂わ笍馃挋
