The “unofficial” first round playoff pairings for the Hampton Roads area teams. Again, what’s official is what comes from the regions. The Heritage/Woodside game on Monday impacts seeding in two regions.

Here are the unofficial power ratings for Class 3, Group A. Again, nothing is official until the region releases the pairings.
The only thing that can change is Lake Taylor could be the #6 seed if Heritage beats Woodside on Monday. If that happens, both Lake Taylor and Colonial Heights would have a rating of 22.10. Lake Taylor should win the tie breaker over Colonial Heights for playing a team with an effective nine game schedule. That team was Norcom. If that doesn't happen, then I interpreted the tie breaker incorrectly.
Here are the unofficial power ratings for Class 4, Group A. Again, nothing is official until the region releases the pairings.
The way I see it the seedings are set. Denbigh & Hampton's power rating will change a little bit with the Monday game between Woodside and Heritage but the standings will not.
Here is Class 4, Group A. Nothing has changed since Thursday night. Seeds 1, 2, 3, & 4 are set. See the graphic.
#5 seed can be either Denbigh or Hampton
#6 seed can be Denbigh, Hampton, or Churchland
#7 seed can be Hampton or Churchland
#8 seed is Grafton.
Hampton can be the #5 seed if they beat Bethel.
Churchland cannot finish ahead of Denbigh.
If Churchland wins and Hampton loses, Churchland is likely 6th with a small chance of a tie.
If both lose Hampton is #6 and Churchland #7.
Here is Class 5, Group B as of Friday night with three more teams yet to play.
You notice King's Fork currently at #1. If Bethel beats Hampton Saturday Bethel is the #1 seed and Kings Fork #2.
Should Bethel lose, they could fall behind Maury and be the #3 seed. Even though Maury has finished their season, four power points are missing because Lake Taylor & Norview plus Churchland & Manor haven't played yet. Plus they can earn another two if Bishop McNamara wins today.
Warwick is locked in as the #4 seed.
If Norview beats Lake Taylor they will pass Nansemond River for 5th. If not Norview is #6 and NRHS is #5.
Woodside will be the #7 seed if they beat Heritage on Monday. If they lose then Granby will be #7.
Here is a look at the situation in Class 3, Region A as of Saturday morning.
The last position to be determined is the 6 & 7 seed between Lake Taylor and Colonial Heights. Lake Taylor will play Norview on Saturday afternoon. If Lake Taylor wins, they will need four of possible 5 points to pass Colonial Heights for the 6 seed.
Where would the points come from? These games.
- Manor at Churchland, 1pt if Churchland wins, 2 pts if Manor wins.
- Hampton vs Bethel, 1pt if Hampton wins.
- Heritage vs Woodside, 2pts if Heritage wins. This game is Monday.
What happens if Lake Taylor wins and only gets three bonus points and ties Colonial Heights. It looks like Lake Taylor would get the #6 seed based on the tie breaker 68-4-8 (1) (d). This tiebreaker is based on Lake Taylor having played a team with an effective 9 game schedule (Norcom) and all of Colonial Heights opponents played 10 game schedules.
For those wondering if Heritage does win on Monday, can they pass I.C. Norcom for 8th. The answer is no. Norcom is in the playoffs.
Here are the unofficial power ratings for Class 1, Group B. Again, nothing is official until the region releases the pairings. Highlight here is Sussex Central should host Brunswick in a rematch of Sussex Central's only loss of the season. Surry County is #6 and headed to Altavista. @hatfieldsports
Here are the unofficial power ratings for Class 2, Group A. Again, nothing is official until the region releases the pairings. However, highlights are that Poquoson gets the #2 seed after King Williams loss. Also, Thomas Jefferson-Richmond should get the tie breaker with Armstrong having won head-to-head earlier this year. @hatfieldsports @DougRipleyPxP @ODUFootballFan
