Catholics, reminder:
You can free a soul from purgatory every day this week.
From Nov 1โ8, the Church grants a plenary indulgence, applicable to the souls in purgatory, each day you:
1. Visit a cemetery and pray for the dead (even silently)
2. Go to confession (within about 20 days before or after)
3. Receive Holy Communion
4. Pray for the Pope's intentions (an Our Father and Hail Mary is enough)
5. Be detached from all sin, even venial
Today only (All Souls Day): you can also gain one by visiting a church and praying the Our Father and the Creed.
One confession covers the whole week. Communion and the prayer for the Pope are needed for each day's indulgence.
And if you're not fully detached from sin, you still gain a partial indulgence. So go anyway.
Repost this to spread the word. The souls in purgatory need our help.

St Thomas Aquinas, one of the foundational moral theologians of western civilization, reasoned that we have a natural hierarchy of duty, the ordo caritatis.
We owe highest duty to God. The next is to your own eternal soul (you donโt sacrifice your own salvation for someone elseโs). Following that are your spouse, children, and family in that order. Then friends and neighbors, and then to your own temporal existence, especially as is pertains to the wellbeing of those close to you (neglecting yourself is neglecting your loved ones).
Only once all these needs are met (emphasizing again that this is determined through reason as well as scripture) do we have a duty to other groups of people, other nations, or โthe worldโ as a whole.
So this leftist hierarchy of world > country > loved ones > self is mixed up and fights against at least 800 years of societal development as well as reason itself.

This is unironically precisely the reasoning behind iconography
The icons do not themselves contain God or holiness, but nonetheless evoke thoughts of God and holiness โ thereby extolling us to virtue

Gracias a todos los que oraron por mi madre.
Fuimos al hospital, y todo saliรณ bien, gracias a Dios. No tiene fracturas ni contusiones graves.

People badmouthing this are wild. This is the beauty and power of the Catholic Church. Anywhere it brings the gospel, it transforms rather than replaces the culture that exists there.
Faith can be embodied in all cultures, because it does not identify itself with any of them in a specific one. It dwells within them, shaping them from within according to the โformโ of Jesus Christ; that is, through charity, service and the filial recognition of Godโs fatherhood. In this way, the Church draws from the various cultures all that is good, beautiful and true, in order to embody and transmit the message of the Gospel. #GeneralAudience

My wife interviewed parents whose adult children all remained Catholic. One commonality was a father who was firm in discipline, gentle with the kids, played with them, and prayed with them.
In other words, if you imitate the Father, your kids have a better shot at knowing Him

"Justification based merely on imputed righteousness is like calling an Ethiopian white simply because he puts on a white garment. Though the garment possesses whiteness, it leaves the man beneath entirely unchanged."

Watched a YouTube video where two Protestant pastors converted to Catholicism over primarily three things they found in the early church fathers that they didn't have as whatever brand of Protestantism they had:
1. Bishops
2. Altars
3. Real presence
There were some other things, but these were the major points of emphasis
Lutherans have all three
Why do people go straight to the "nuclear option" and become Roman Catholic? Are they just unaware that we exist?
Or is there a lot more they think Rome offers that we don't?
