Public service announcement for educators. I’ve shifted to in class writing assessments but now we have cases of AI glasses becoming more widespread. I found a case of this in my classroom: edulegit.com/blog/cheating-g…
Thank you for this opportunity to engage other ways of transmitting and applying Scriptures from liturgical and embodied experiences of early Judaism! @SBLPress @andersonsview
Read "Memory, Scripture, and Tradition in the Gospel of John: Blending Jewish Scriptures and Tradition within John’s Remembrance of Jesus" by Rachel L. Danley in John, Jesus, and History, Volume 5. buff.ly/B7XBXzz

ALT Memory, Scripture, and Tradition in the Gospel of John: Blending Jewish Scriptures and Tradition within John’s Remembrance of Jesus Rachel L. Danley This essay draws on conceptual blending theory to consider how John provides a historical remembrance of Jesus through his experience of Judaism, Jesus’s ministry, and the postresurrection Spirit. I suggest that the embodied ritual experience of early Jewish Christian believers may account for the movement between explicit and implicit uses of Jewish Scripture and tradition in John’s Gospel.

Excited to contribute to this SBL volume with some excellent Johannine scholars coming out in August! I share a new interpretation on John 2 that preserves the significance of the physical temple and its extended mappings—a foretaste of my Brill monograph coming in the fall.

This was especially moving, with the graduation of a group of 5 PhD students whose pathways were particularly affected by the pandemic and its ongoing disruptions. Congratulations to all!
