Really power video and so close to the truth 😢. I’ve worked with many so many staff groups over the last 4 years and can safely say many nhs workers are broken 😞
Things have got to change ..
What a powerful, truthful video.

Childcare costs and challenging shift patterns are causing nursing students to question their career choice.
With a 10% fall in nursing student applications in England this year, the government can't afford to exclude them from free childcare.

Brilliant people leave teams when they feel they just can’t make change happen. The barriers?
- fixed hierarchies based on grade
- slow or no decision-making
- 0 freedom to innovate
- blocking good ideas
- taking credit for the efforts of others
- no engagement
- hubris
- spin

Golden quotes that are a great reminder for all of us from @WestM61 shared by @HelenBevan .
1. Compassion is the single most powerful intervention available to us” (in leading health and care).
2. “The factor that has the greatest impact on culture is the behaviour of leaders”.
3. “The ability to be self-compassionate is a pre-requisite of the ability to be compassionate to others”.

It was wonderful to listen to Michael West’s @WestM61 keynote at #FNMConf2024. I wrote down multiple quotes from Michael to store away for later. These include:
“Compassion is the single most powerful intervention available to us” (in leading health and care).
“The factor that has the greatest impact on culture is the behaviour of leaders”.
“The ability to be self-compassionate is a pre-requisite of the ability to be compassionate to others”.
Thank you Michael (and thank you @RCSI_FacNurMid for inviting me).

The NHS is rolling out a patient safety initiative called 'Martha's Rule' which enables patients and families to seek an urgent review if they are worried about their or a loved one’s condition.
This will undoubtedly save lives in the future. england.nhs.uk/2024/02/nhs-t…

Belonging is vital👌Belonging is everything👌
Belonging at work really matters. Employees with a strong sense of belonging outperform others on almost every metric, from engagement & retention to performance & wellbeing. Good leadership supports belonging: People with an effective manager are 6X more likely to feel this sense of belonging. Six ways to gauge belonging at work based on research:
1) Overall sense of belonging: I feel a strong sense of belonging at my organisation
2) Welcomed: I feel warmly welcomed at in my organisation (first day, new team, new role)
3) Known: I feel known as an individual at work
4) Included: I feel included at work (can be myself, my opinions are valued, can respectfully disagree)
5) Supported: I am supported at work in achieving my personal & professional development goals
6) Connected: I feel a strong connection with peers and colleagues

“Well-trained midwives working in a fully functional environment could provide 90% of all essential sexual, reproductive, maternal&newborn health services, yet because they are underutilised & in short supply, they account for only 10% of those currently providing these services”
There is a global shortage of almost a million midwives, even though they could help avert roughly two thirds of maternal and newborn deaths.
