It has now been more than two months since 20-year-old Palestinian American Sama Safi—a U.S. citizen—was abducted in the middle of the night from her family home in the West Bank by armed Israeli soldiers.
I recently met with Sama's parents to hear their story. Amidst profound trauma, they summoned great clarity and courage to advocate for their child, who reports having endured inhumane conditions in detention. According to Sama's attorney, there is little credible evidence that would warrant her continued detention, and with every day that passes, her chronic health condition worsens.
I’ve been calling on the Trump Administration to secure Sama's immediate release, continued access to medical care, and end all unjust and arbitrary detentions. And I’ll keep fighting for Sama's release and demanding accountability from the Israeli government and the Trump Administration.

Israel might be termed a “test-tube state”, one originally cooked up – like apartheid South Africa – in the laboratories of western settler colonialism.
But, even more so than apartheid South Africa, Israel has over time become deeply useful to western corporations, especially the most lucrative of them, in the military-industrial complex.
Israel has transformed the Palestinian territories into its own laboratories, where – via the Shin Bet and Israeli military – corporations can test out new forms of surveillance, crowd control, imprisonment strategies, warfare, weapons development, and Artificial Intelligence programmes.
Israel helps the corporations analyse the ability of humans to endure or resist these various forms of oppression, and as a consequence make adjustments and refinements.
And finally, Israel helps the corporations by testing, through its criminal endeavours, ways to improve public relations and media strategies that obscure the horrifying reality, as well as schemes for eroding international legal norms and constraints.
University research departments are often funded to do similar kinds of work, but they cannot compete with the giant, real-world, real-time laboratory offered by Israel.
The technologies and strategies Israel is testing are all highly lucrative. Western corporations understand that they will be essential in securing their futures in the face of greater popular resistance as austerity continues to grip, environmental degradation – such as river pollution – increases, and the climate breaks down further.

Are the MSM wolves gathered outside Starmer’s front door 24/7? Is Starmer’s wife cowering inside their house from the gutter press’ shouting and taunts? Does Starmer’s wife see articles in newspapers like the @DailyMail calling for her husband to be killed?
Did anyone on the right wing of the PLP consider the human cost to Jeremy Corbyn and his family over four years of non-stop unhinged hate and vilification? Bullying, spite and ill-mannered behaviour in the workplace (often attributed to Starmer himself ) that continues to the present day.
So give over, please. Starmer isn’t experiencing a fraction of what Corbyn experienced. Unjustifiably abandoned by a treacherous and ruthless gang of his colleagues in the workplace and besieged at home. Now ‘that’ was vitriol, bullying and persecution that was off the scale.
