Since the update to the TOS, I decided to shift my presence on social media to Bluesky. I’m not posting here and limiting activity. We’ll keep going with the Purple Pulse Podcast for now.

After heavy rain caused flash flooding across Brevard County, OCSO’s High Water Rescue Team deployed to the Melbourne area yesterday afternoon, working into the early morning hours to rescue trapped residents.
Their efforts helped save 23 people, two cats, and three dogs.
Our team is back home and standing by, ready to respond if called again.
Great work!
Sad day seeing this post. I appreciate @ManeLandMichael for giving me an opportunity to talk and write about soccer with some like-minded folks. Thank you. I value the friendships made being a part of this group. I’m going to miss the coverage & podcasts.
Friends, this been coming for a while, but sadly it is now imminent. The Mane Land will cease operations shortly after the 2026 season. Story:

11/2/26 10:00 AM | Remember never drive through a flooded roadway—find an alternate route. Stay home and off the roads if possible.
Driving through floodwaters can:
🚗 Flood your vehicle
💧Push water toward homes and neighborhoods
⚠️ Hide dangerous hazards under the surface

Pope Leo XIV has voted in the midterm elections of the United States, expressing his “belief in the right and the duty of citizens to participate in democratic processes.”
The Holy See Press Office announced on Friday that Pope Leo XIV, an American citizen, "has exercised his right to vote as a United States citizen, whenever he was eligible to do so."
The Press Office confirmed that, “in keeping with this long-standing practice of civic participation, he has submitted his mail-in ballot in Chicago.”
“The Holy Father has also confirmed that, during his years of residence in Peru he exercised his right to vote whenever he was eligible to do so,” noted the statement.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

41 years ago today Dusty Rhodes cut the legendary ‘HARD TIMES’ promo:
“Hard times are when the textile workers around this country are out of work, and got four or five kids, and can't pay the wages, can't buy the food, hard times, or when the auto workers are out of work, and they tell them, go home, and hard times are when a man is working a job, 30 years, 30 years. They give him a watch, kick him in the butt, and say, hey, a computer took your place, daddy”

Dolores Huerta seemed like she might live forever. She endured. She never seemed to say no to an invitation to lend her voice to a cause she believed in. May she rest in peace.
Dolores Huerta, the fiery and resolute activist who helped launch and guide the nation’s first enduring labor union for poor farm workers and later became an inspiration to women and liberal true believers, has died. She was 96.
