Canada's railways delivered a record crop year! @CNRailway and @CPKCrail moved more than 64 million tonnes of grain. Results like these don't happen by accident. They reflect the value of efficient operations, strong coordination, investment, and collaboration across Canada's grain supply chain. Congratulations to CN, CPKC and everyone across the grain supply chain who helped make this record year possible. #railCAN #grain #movingeconomies #supplychain

While Bill C-39 proposes new federal intervention authorities, the Government would only be able to intervene once a strike or lockout has begun. We're recommending a targeted amendment to section 107 that would allow earlier intervention in exceptional circumstances, when collective bargaining has failed, a special mediator's report clearly indicates a work stoppage is imminent, and significant economic harm to the national interest would result. Just one week to go until #RailCAN26 — Canada’s hub for rail and supply chain leaders! With everyone making their way to Ottawa next week, we have to ask: Who's taking the train? It's a fitting question, because passenger rail is going to be a big part of the conversation at RailCAN26. There's a lot happening across the sector, from major infrastructure investments and new fleets to new ways of delivering passenger service. And with that comes some big questions about the future of passenger rail in Canada. We'll be bringing together industry leaders to talk about where things stand, what's coming next and what it all means for Canadians. 📍 Ottawa | 🗓️ Nov 2-3, 2026 🔗 Last chance to secure your spot today: ow.ly/8Tuz50ZFGRg

Tony Hatch is back at RailCAN! After a great conversation last year, we're pleased to welcome Tony back for another look at what's happening across North American freight rail. There's certainly no shortage of things to talk about. From major industry transactions and network investments to changing trade corridors and new operating arrangements, Tony will share his perspective on what it all means for the future of rail in North America. If you caught his session last year, you know it's one worth attending. See you at #RailCAN26! 🔗ow.ly/WI9650ZZ28E

Housing is a priority. So is railway safety. How do we get both right? As governments work to address housing shortages and homelessness, temporary encampments, supportive housing, and new residential developments are increasingly being established near active rail corridors. This #railCAN26 session will explore how governments, municipalities, housing providers, and railways can work together to balance urgent housing needs with public safety, land-use planning, and the protection of Canada's critical transportation infrastructure. Railways. Ports. One connected supply chain. Across Canada, railways and ports are working together to expand trade capacity, strengthen key export corridors and improve the movement of goods to global markets. But where are the biggest opportunities for investment? What infrastructure constraints need to be addressed? At #RailCAN26, senior leaders from major Canadian ports and railways, and Transport Canada, will take on these questions and more. November 2–3 | Ottawa 🔗 ow.ly/Pegc50ZZ1XS

From BTRC: We’re a small railway. And we’re proud of it. Boundary Trail Railway was created by local farmers with a pretty simple idea: keep rail service in our communities and give southern Manitoba producers and businesses more options to get their goods to market. Today, we own 23 route miles and operate an additional 25 miles on CPKC between Rosenfeld, Morden and Binney, serving the communities and businesses along the way. But our reach doesn’t end where our tracks do. Through our connections with the broader Canadian and continental rail network, the products we pick up here in southern Manitoba can travel across Canada and into markets throughout North America. That’s why the Shortline Railway Investment Tax Credit matters. It will help railways like ours reinvest here at home, strengthen the infrastructure our customers rely on, and keep Manitoba goods moving. Since our first train ran in 2009, we’ve moved some 10,000 carloads of grain and other products - representing over 1.27 million tonnes of goods. We’re proud to continue working with government and industry partners to invest in our railway, strengthen its sustainability, and make sure the businesses and producers we serve can keep moving their goods to market. #ShortlineAdvantage

Canada’s shortline railways are delivering for the economy we have today, and investing in the economy we are building next. ✅$49.4 billion in goods moved by rail each year ✅8,752 km in track owned or operated by shortlines ✅More than $420 million invested in 2024 by shortlines From connecting Canadian businesses to global markets, and businesses here at home, shortlines are fundamental to Canada’s economic strength. With the right policy and #investment conditions, Canada can unlock more private sector investment, strengthen trade infrastructure, accelerate innovation and support a more productive, competitive economy. The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) similarly said it “welcomes elements” of the bill, but that it “falls short of its ambitions … of solving Canada’s labour instability challenges in our critical transportation supply chains.” hilltimes.com/2026/09/30/ind…

Every year, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation offers us an opportunity to reflect on the legacy residential schools have had in Canada. We proudly support the Orange Shirt Society, and our #EveryChildMatters locomotive, with its distinctive orange paint and the @OrangeShirtSoc logo continues to operate across our network, raising awareness and inspiring discussion. Our Training Design and Development team created a 3D model of this locomotive to give railroaders another way to reflect on this important day. Learn more about the enduring impacts of residential schools through the @OrangeShirtSoc website and the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. Together, we can make a difference. #NDTR #EveryChildMatters

Rail is more than a means of transportation in Canada. It’s part of our story.  For the first time in four decades, VIA Rail passenger cars that were once made in the United States, will be built in Canada, with Canadian materials, and by Canadian workers.

Preparedness saves lives. Since 2000, RAC’s Dangerous Goods Team has trained 18,500+ first responders through TRANSCAER. Now, the CCPX911 mobile classroom—a converted tank car—is travelling across Canada, delivering hands-on training & raising awareness in communities. Safety is a team effort: RAC works with the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada & supply chain partners to train first responders, while providing 24/7 emergency response support to railways & communities. 🚂👷‍♀️ #TRANSCAER #CommunitySafety #FirstResponders #RailSafety #EmergencyResponse #Canada40Years #SafetyTraining

Canada has an opportunity to build a stronger, more competitive economy — one that attracts investment, builds major projects, reaches new markets and re-establishes our country as one of the world’s most reliable trading partners. Bill C-39 contains important measures to support that ambition. But there are also significant gaps that need to be addressed.
