Throughout the year, our warriors have demonstrated incredible resilience, courage and bravery despite the challenges they face. They have fought battles, overcome difficult moments and continued to inspire us with their strength.
This Christmas, we want to celebrate them, remind them that they are loved, valued and never alone.

The fight against sickle cell disease begins at the community level. In Tororo District, RHIF is strengthening primary healthcare by equipping over 100 VHTs and CHEWs with practical knowledge and skills in sickle cell awareness, early identification, family support and referral. These frontline health workers are essential in ensuring that families receive accurate information, suspected cases are identified early and affected individuals are connected to appropriate healthcare services.

RHIF STRENGTHENS SICKLE CELL SERVICES IN TORORO DISTRICT UNDER NNHF SUPPORT. @DrAyumeCharles
This week, Raising Hope International Friends (RHIF), in collaboration with the @MinofHealthUG conducted a three-day intervention in Tororo District to strengthen sickle cell disease (SCD) screening, diagnosis, care, patient monitoring, and community awareness.
The activities were conducted in the presence of the Tororo District Resident District Commissioner (RDC), District Health Officer (DHO), District Internal Security Officer (DISO), Medical Superintendent of Tororo General Hospital, and the Ministry of Health Sickle Cell Programme Coordinator. We were able to deliver as below.
1. Trained 80 healthcare professionals (HCPs) from Tororo General Hospital and peripheral health facilities to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in sickle cell screening, diagnosis, and patient care.
2. Empowered 100 Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Village Health Teams (VHTs) to promote sickle cell awareness, identify individuals requiring testing, facilitate referrals, and link affected individuals and families to appropriate healthcare services.
3. Placed one Hemex Gazelle point-of-care testing machine to support sickle cell diagnosis and patient monitoring in the district.
4. Donated 3,000 sickle cell testing kits to support the newborn screening programme and expand access to early diagnosis across Tororo District.
The healthcare professionals received practical training on the use of sickle cell rapid diagnostic test kits facilitated by @Microhaem and the operation of the Hemex Gazelle machine, facilitated by @NicosamHealth @nicosamhealthug
We extend our sincere gratitude to NNHF for supporting sickle cell program in Uganda.

WE ARE IN MAYUGE DISTRICT: Celebrating Busoga, Championing Health.
As the people of Busoga come together to celebrate the Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Majesty the Kyabazinga of Busoga, our team is in Mayuge bringing essential sickle cell services closer to the community.
We were deeply honoured to have the medical camp officially graced by Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama Isanga, 3rd Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, who led by example by getting screened for sickle cell herself.
Her message was clear: knowing your genotype is an important step towards making informed health and reproductive decisions. She encouraged Basoga and all Ugandans to know their genotype and take charge of their health.
This FREE Sickle Cell Health Camp is proudly delivered in partnership with SADO – Smart African Village Development Consortium and Raising Hope International Friends (RHIF), providing:
Sickle cell screening
Drug refills and treatment support
Health education
Counselling and psychosocial support
Referral and linkage to care
As Mayuge comes alive for the Kyabazinga Coronation Anniversary, we are reminded that celebration and health can go hand in hand.
All is set for the Coronation celebrations of His Royal Majesty the Kyabazinga of Busoga!
👑 Long Live the Kyabazinga!
