Look at this picture. Let it radicalize you.
If “checking all the boxes” gets us… whatever the hell that is on the left—instead of what is on the right—brother, we gotta change those boxes.

his first instinct was to talk about the gap he can fill vs complain about what i can’t do for him. i’m still not over that convo 🥹

At the same time, people shouldn’t put it all on Nithya’s shoulders. All you young people (and not so young people) should continue organizing. Create your own little armies. They’re going to be needed to fight against everything City council throws at Nithya. Show up to NC meetings. Council meetings. Commission meetings. Put pressure on your councilmembers. Make the politicians more afraid of the people than the special interest money groups. Use that power to pressure Nithya to stay on course. And use that pressure to help her out.
If you just walk away for the next four years, the special interests will fill the vacuum. So hold Nithya accountable but put your foot in the ass of Councilmembers that are selling out or operating in bad faith.
I actually appreciate that Billy Mac and Stu aren’t homers like a lot of other team’s commenters. They consistently call unbiased games.

You’re right. Organizing works. California is full of effective organizers. That’s ultimately how we got a Billionaire Tax put before the people.
But then we got Citizens Uniteded into oblivion. The ruling class throws a mountain of money at us every election cycle.
Replying to @IkeMoses
Y'all need a strong progressive ground game to knock doors and educate people. That's how Abdul won. That's how Tallarico won. That's how Mamdani won. That's how AOC won.
Organizing.

I am an "all of the above" housing guy at this point. But it needs to be said:
No one builds "affordable cars". Used cars are just new cars that got old. Same goes for housing.
We don't have affordable housing today, because we didn't build market rate housing yesterday.
We’re working to solve California’s housing crisis.
It was a pleasure to join Assemblymember @BuffyWicks, labor, local elected officials, and community members who are turning this site in El Cerrito into housing: public land next to a BART station, a 100% affordable building, homes built in a factory, and union labor on the job. It’s the first phase of a plan to turn BART parking lots into 743 homes.
This is what building housing the right way looks like. Every Californian deserves a home they can afford, close to where they work.
