ALT “I am not a fan of putting my personal business out on social media but wanted to on this occasion as a lot of people have been asking after me lately and speculating about what has been going on with me. So it was just easier to write this I think for those wondering or curious and put to rest some rumours and ignorance. Last month I suffered a massive heart attack. To say I am very lucky to be here writing this is something of an understatement. I did die for some moments, (which is a wild experience I will talk about another time), and it took something like six hours to get me stabilised and somewhat back to normal.”

ALT “Anyway, I have had a few stents put in and all things considered I am doing well. But because I suffered some damage to the heart which should, thankfully, heal over time and not require any further surgery, recovery has been tough so far. And it will be a tough road ahead. But I am so lucky to have the most supportive family and friends to get me through it. I don’t think it is much of a secret among those that know me that I haven’t been very well for some years now. But the months leading up to what happened had been really rough. Which is why I have been very quiet on social media this past while and had pretty much lost all enthusiasm for anything, especially taking care of myself.”

ALT “But death really has put life in to perspective for me, (though I wouldn’t recommend it). And while there is no doubt I will still be the same curmudgeonly opinionated lefty asshole people know and love/hate, my attitude towards taking care of myself has done a 180. And I am hugely confident I can come out the other side a better, healthier, version of myself Just a note to the ghouls that have been asking friends, family, and colleagues about my vaccine status … wise to feck up! This situation was one entirely of my own making and happened because I am overweight, smoke, and failed to look after myself and my health for far too long.”

ALT “Anyway, that’s it. I might find myself gravitating back towards social media again to kill the boredom of recovery. But there will be zero time spent fighting with the trolls and hate filled accounts that thrive on angst because, truly, life is way too short for that drama!”
