Sir David Bell’s decision to treat antisemitism as a “distinct form of racism” in schools – separate from other racisms and requiring special safeguarding procedures to protect Jewish pupils – is exactly the approach fiercely rejected in an earlier inquiry, one also set up by Keir Starmer.
Martin Forde KC was appointed in early 2020 to investigate claims of an antisemitism problem under Jeremy Corbyn, Starmer’s predecessor.
Much to Starmer’s annoyance, Forde’s report, published in 2022, found that Corbyn had been largely correct that antisemitism was weaponised during his tenure as leader for factional gain, chiefly by the right of the party that Starmer had come to head.
Forde also criticised the rightwing Labour bureaucracy, which had opposed Corbyn, for “in effect operating a hierarchy of racism”, privileging antisemitism while ignoring or downplaying other forms of racism. Further, he berated staff for using antisemitism for political point-scoring against the left instead of taking a serious approach to tackling antisemitism.
With the help of the media, Starmer has succeeded in largely wiping Forde’s report from the record. It is almost never referenced.
With the Bell review, we seem to be back to square one: the weaponisation of antisemitism to create a hierarchy of racism is being extended from politics to schools.
Hidden in the report’s later pages, Bell actually notes that there has been no rise in antisemitism, observing of recent years: “Anti-Jewish attitudes are typically less prevalent and have remained more stable.”
Perhaps not suprisingly, in parallel Bell points out that opposition to Israel has steadily risen during the period that the world watched Israel murdering, maiming and starving Gaza’s children.
Or as the report observes: “Anti-Israel sentiments are more prevalent and have been increasing.”
Bell himself points to a survey conducted in 2025 – at the height of the Gaza genocide – in which a quarter of all Britons and half of those aged between 18 and 24 said they were uncomfortable “spending time with people who openly support Israel”. By contrast, only 3 per cent said they were opposed to having a friendship with someone because they were Jewish.
In other words, Bell implicitly accepts the very premise of his review is flawed: antisemitism is not more of a problem than it was. It is opposition to Israel’s atrocities that is on the rise.
And that, it seems, is what the Bell review and the government’s new “antisemitism” policy towards schools is really seeking to stifle: criticism of Israel.

UK has an aging white pop
Idea that life would be better if there were less migrants is purely racism
If you remove migrants you’re simply left with an aging pop with no one to care for them also
Huge tax return loses from their labour
Worse services

This is the reddest of red flags. So many young people are flocking to the Greens because the other parties offer neoliberalism (or fascism) and they've been screwed over by neoliberalism their whole lives. Othering them by calling them the "hard left" is disgusting.

This is actually a beautiful thing to see. A Zionist melts down when a Hasidic Jew stands up against the genocide in Gaza.

The Lakota were a matrilineal hunter/warrior society. Lakota society holds women in high reverence as the givers of life, home owners, family providers, and the sacred backbone of the community. Women are deeply honored as sacred beings through figures like White Buffalo Calf Woman (Pte San Win), who brought the sacred pipe and spiritual teachings to the Lakota people.

Hi @Nigel_Farage, seems you were happy to meet Paolo Zampolli too. Doesn’t it?
The guy that the House Judiciary Committee investigation stated he was “an active participant” in Jeffery Epstein's alleged sex trafficking.
The guy that the FBI said he arranged a model’s visa before she was recruited to give a massage at Epstein’s house, where Epstein allegedly raped her.
The guy with the civil lawsuit over the alleged drugging and raping of Victoria Drake.
How many times have you, or Reform UK officials met this man?
Hi @andreajenkyns, why did you delete the video of yourself with Paolo Zampoli talking about how you had just had lunch together?
Is it because you realised the House Judiciary Committee investigation stated he was “an active participant” in Jeffery Epstein's alleged sex trafficking?
Or was it that the FBI said he arranged a model’s visa before she was recruited to give a massage at Epstein’s house, where Epstein allegedly raped her?
Or is it the civil lawsuit he’s facing over the alleged drugging and raping of Victoria Drake?
And you think he’s “amazing”.
That’s a lot of promises you’re making there, Mayor.

In court in Brum today is defendant Ryan Bridge, the last man standing of the seven originally named in the injunction application. He's the only one still opposing it.
The others have quietly headed for the exits:
• Julian Keane, Mark Keating, Elliot Stanley and Ross Waldron (aka Ross Childs) have all given legal undertakings not to take any further part in flagging. The council has accepted those undertakings.
• Ben Cullen has told the court he wants no part in the proceedings, has cut ties with Raise the Colours Birmingham and Ryan Bridge, and says he is not involved in flagging. He's too busy preparing for his trial for possession of indecent images of children.
• Billy Allison has not taken part in the proceedings at all, presumably having enough on his plate already with his own ongoing murder trial at Stafford Crown Court.
Which leaves Billy no mates Ryan Bridge as the sole defendant still fighting the injunction.
