That said, I get why Brittney shaved her head in 2007.
After going through it myself once, nothing bothers me more than people dehumanizing the people working for a normal income, who lose certainty in one fell swoop because the person holding up the foundation crumbled. Just because you know their name, doesn't mean they are rich.
I get asked a lot why I stopped streaming just as I was starting to really hit high numbers, and being totally honest it was because I felt increasingly icky about the streaming world. I saw so much fake drama, people trying to get their 15 minutes while real people got hurt, etc
And while I never was one of the big boys, I did manage to garner some respect and influence behind the scenes that resulted in a lot of good people willing to work with me. But I think I just didn't have it in me to play the game you have to play.
I don't normally get salty about stuff like this, but 13 "Yes" RSVPs didn't show up to our wedding w/o informing us they wouldn't be there, and they were all streamers. Thanks for costing us close to $5k for no reason! Plz learn how to be adults.
But we had a great time without you.

A note to Dem politicians and campaigns: You won't persuade voters with a one-off appearance on a popular podcast the week before the election (which is not a knock on Harris' campaign; she only had a couple months so they did all they could). The reason Republicans are winning over so many young people is because the right invests hours and hours, everyday, every month, every year in audience-building among its influencer class. We can't compete by sticking our candidates on an episode one time in October of an election year. Democrats need to embrace YEAR-ROUND progressive media (either directly political or political-adjacent) if we want to compete. But you cannot only remember independent media outlets exist 2 weeks before an election-- not in a media environment where the vast majority of Americans (and practically ALL persuadable Americans) are consuming content on alternative outlets.

Every year since I've moved to Austin, I've had a big Birthday party.
The first was filled with many good friends I'd come to know on the internet or since moving to the area. It was a great, wholesome time. It was a double birthday party with @notfandy . It was even streamed.
Every year since, I noticed less and less of the people I considered friends, and more and more strangers; content creators that moved here and wanted to get close to other people I knew, but had no idea who I was. Others had moved away, we'd lost touch, or the typical drama of life happened to draw wedges between them and other people I cared about, or even me.
And so this year, when I should probably be throwing a Gatsby-level event for this major milestone, I think I'll just celebrate it in a cabin in the woods, surrounded by those closest to me.
