Just finished recording our final conversation in the 'Blessings and Blind Spots' series on the Holy Spirit - with the Bishop of Oswestry, Paul Thomas. At 1pm today we'll play this interview, and also have time to reflect on the series as a whole. He is fascinating!

Off on a residential today with ReSource thinking about renewal in rural churches. I’ve always believed that God loves the ‘little, local and ordinary’ churches as much as any other and I’d love to see and hear more about renewal in the ‘little, local & ordinary’ churches.

Amen! (Hadn't realised our @ReSourceARM patron was now in the Lords.)
"The question with which I come to this House is not so much how we make Britain great again, but rather how we make Britain kind again." - Bishop of Chester, Rt Revd Mark Tanner, in his maiden speech to the Lords this week.

Our Vice Principal, Academic, Revd Dr Helen Collins, is the keynote speakers at the national conference of @ReSourceARM next month. There's still time to sign up.
Book your tickets now for our National day conference in November. Focussed on the 'Quiet Revival' our hope is that through our main session and seminars you'll be equipped to respond to this fresh move in whatever context you're based in. resourcingrenewal.org/events…

Peterborough Cathedral looking pretty resplendent, as the diocese prepares to bid farewell to Bishop John Holbrook upon his retirement. Thankfully he is remaining as chair of @ReSourceARM!

This is the Herefordshire village church where, for a few years, I was a teenage organist. (This may partly explain why I am passionate about the renewal and future of 'little, local, ordinary' churches!).

Once upon a time in the 1970s, Holy Trinity Brompton was a relatively unremarkable central London church, known for its BCP services and classy weddings. The story of how, by the 1990s, it became an Anglican megachurch - with transformed music and liturgy - is fascinating. 🧵

This was a day full of insights of relevance to our 'Alongside Scheme', supporting clergy and lay leaders with a trained volunteer Companion. Much helpful reflection on trauma as an inescapable dimension of ministerial experience, personally and/or vicariously.

This is a kairos time in the Church of England, though it is obscured by the current heat and pressure of news coverage. Aristotle defined kairos time as a significant or propitious moment. Accordingly we at StB will be supporting this prayer initiative from @ResourceARM.
Happy New Year! Throughout 2025, ReSource will be praying specifically for the renewal of the church. Join us in monthly prayer for God’s renewing work across all the churches of our nation - resourcingrenewal.org/events…

A fortnight ago, Pete Greig shared an unintentionally sobering anecdote about a Pentecost event at Guildford Cathedral, involving the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby: "It was a profound depiction of precisely our problem with the Holy Spirit in the church today."

How does charismatic renewal relate to mission? I'm really looking forward to chatting with @drhmsteele from @stmellitus, who writes: "all our missional endeavours are dependent upon the Spirit of God". On Zoom at 1pm Tuesday - register for free at resourcingrenewal.org/events…
Join us next Tuesday for an online conversation with @drhmsteele as we discuss the call to mission. Hannah is the director of @stmellitus London and author of ‘Living His Story: Being a Community of Missionary Disciples.

Delighted that @ESOldfield is the final guest in our series of Pentecost Conversations on Tuesday. (She hadn't gone viral when she agreed to speak to @ReSourceARM, but the Lord moves in mysterious ways...!) You can book here: resourcingrenewal.org/events…

Here’s the absolute highlight: an astonishing 60 seconds from @ESOldfield. It is THE mini-sermon our culture needs.

You may think I'm naive in saying this, but I honestly believe many of the church's problems have a root cause - an impoverished view of the Holy Spirit. If you're at all interested in exploring this, you might like to note these Tuesday lunchtime 'Pentecost Conversations'...
