This is akin to sacking the Ornamental Plaster professor and hiring a Drywall contractor, saying it doesn't matter because you're keeping the programme Traditional.
It will soon be evident whether it matches the standard of excellence of Classicist professors Duncan and Smith.
DO NOT ATTEND @ACBACharleston for architecture. Strongly recommend against. They replaced their classically trained head with A) a modernist B) completely illiterate in classical design. Recommend retracting applications at once and going elsewhere.
The Awakened Craftsman

The tradition of apprenticeship and the journey leading to mastery. A time-tested, effective method for the pursuit of excellence and the generation of meaning.
People mistake the jester for the king.
Caught up with the endless procession of buffooneries they fail to see where real power lies.
For those who hold to a doctrine of pacifism, that would condemn all forms of violence, one does well to acknowledge that peace on earth is enforced and maintained not by goodwill, rather by collectivist authoritarianism, i.e. the oligopoly of corporations and the State.
Someone asked me today what I thought was the biggest difference between my generation (Gen-X) and those who’ve come after.
My response is that our’s was the last generation to be fully conscious that at any given moment we are mere minutes away from nuclear annihilation.
Science, logic, and technology based as they are on knowledge and truth recognise no limits and bar no rational objection. Furthermore, they just want to help.
They are the pre-psychic capacity attempt at a hive mind.

Why can't we build things the way we used to?
Techno-anarchy and the revelation of the Totalitarian State
Digitalisation and now A.I. are allowing States unprecedented surveillance capacities of citizens and residents. In an increasingly paperless society the means of interaction with and monitoring by the State is virtual.
Technological illiteracy will severely inhibit one’s ability to function in society, reducing the individual to poverty and irrelevance. Refusal to interact with various A.I. platforms for registration, taxation, etc. is not a disadvantage, rather a de facto criminal activity.
Illiteracy and innumeracy are obstacles to State control as they need from those their subjects the capacity to participate in the means of control over themselves. Computer illiteracy and a refusal to engage with A.I. does and will provide a similar obstacle to State control.
“The Italian military engineer developed, through his professional specialization in destruction, a bulldozing habit of mind: one that sought to clear the ground of encumbrances, so as to make a clear beginning on its own inflexible mathematical lines.” - Lewis Mumford
Descartes on Urban Planning:
"These old cities which, originally only villages, have become, through the passage of time, great towns, are usually so badly proportioned in comparison with those orderly towns which an engineer designs at will...operating according to reason."
What makes Modern philosophy modern?
There is no God. In axiomatic terms: there is nothing greater than the rational mind of man.
That is the essence of its break with the past; the object of beloved knowledge is solely self-referential.
Small farmers, textile workers, and craftsmen are among the most impoverished, unappreciated, low social status people in Modern society.
Food, clothes, and shelter….think about the long term implications of that mentality.
The Existential Craftsman

Craft as a potential path of relief from the crises of irony, cynicism, and nihilism plaguing contemporary society thru a raised and generative consciousness of inherent and symbolic meaning.
The Status of the Traditional Craftsman

Modern architecture is the material expression of the Modern philosophy, the defining feature of which being man placing human rationality as his highest conceivable ideal, the divinisation of reason, the collective wisdom of mankind venerated as a mortal god.
