A twentysomething movie goer in the 70s was likely more mature than one in the 90s and definitely more than one today. The silent Boomer/X tweeners idolized the Marlboro Man, not Judd Apatow actors.

Looks like the MAGA boycott actually worked.
Jennifer Welch has learned nothing. Charlie wasn’t murdered by the 2nd Amendment or because someone mishandled a firearm. He was murdered by a political assassin - a culture they roundly endorse with every laugh, snicker, and vile joke at his expense. But of course, she knows that.
She and her co-host laughed uncontrollably because they’re actually happy Charlie is dead. If they apologize for being part of a toxic and evil culture that perpetuates violence against conservatives, I might actually be willing to listen. Until then, I hope and I pray every sponsorship dollar continues to dry up until they are left without a cent to make any more insulting, half-hearted donations to their pet causes. This isn’t about politics, it’s about basic human decency, something they still very clearly lack.

Ted Koppel asked Nixon about the U.S. thanking Iran and Syria for helping free the hostages in Lebanon when they had a hand in taking them. "You don't thank a kidnapper for returning the individual that he's kidnapped," Nixon said.

The shuttering of brands like Salon does not mean that thoughtful discourse is “dying”. Creatives are merely pivoting to where the heady action is at in 2026: Screaming into the camera for 45 seconds about murdering the people you hate

In 1964, following the electoral wipeout of Barry Goldwater's campaign, young conservatives in the House successfully ousted the Republican leadership and installed Gerald Ford as House Minority Leader (which would inadvertently propel him to the presidency a decade later).
The Democrats wound up taking massive losses in 1966, erasing all the gains they had made since the tail end of Eisenhower's presidency. And then of course, Nixon won in 1968. A significant number of the "Young Turks" wound up in the Nixon administration.
Probably the most famous "Young Turk" aside from Ford himself was Donald Rumsfeld, who was a congressman from Illinois at the time. Yes, at the beginning of his career, Rumsfeld was considered a rebel in the GOP. Dick Cheney also came up as part of the "Young Turks," working under Rumsfeld when he joined the Nixon administration and becoming Ford's chief of staff after Rumsfeld was promoted to Secretary of Defense. (Interesting fact: Cheney began his career as an opponent of the Vietnam War. There was an article in the late 2000s, I want to say from MOTHER JONES, that suggested Cheney's repeated heart attacks gave him brain damage and influenced his slide into neoconnery.)
The boomercons have been cleared from the board like the old GOP was cleared in 1964. Susie Wiles is 69, Stephen Miller is 41. There is no better time for patriots to move in than now.

The fundamental issue with these biopics aimed at conservative/traditional audiences: the movies all feel like pay cable tv movies from the 80s.
