We as Catholics have the Crucifix, we also have photo depictions of Christ, the Saints and Mary. These are just "reminders" because humans are visual creatures. These photos of objects bring us closer to God in prayer. The Saints are friends in Christ. Mary is the Mother of Jesus. We know that Our Saviors Mother is very special to His Sacred Heart. But, that being said, we don't worship statues. That is just a lie. The Church has existed since Peter was made the first Pope. Christ made Peter the Head of the Church on Earth. The other Apostles were the first Bishops of the Churches. Also, the Eastern Orthodox Church uses ICONS for veneration in the same way the Western Churches use statues.
