The idea that any of you not understanding that the "independence" and whatnot is "the conspiracy" misses the point of capitalism. The fake idea that we live in a democracy. As if we have any control through the ballot box... just insane honestly. But it is intentional

As long as sustenance can come from killing and stealing resources from a far away land, or some manufactured caricature of some enemy, people are fine pretending they live in a democracy and everything will be ok. They fear what dealing with the system that creates these scenarios means as it brings the fight home instead of "over there, over there"... they turn a blind eye to how impoverished countries can somehow send raw materials to HMS xyz or to the US or to some other Global North entity. When you stop normalizing the evils the system is designed to manufacture, regardless of puppets at the top, you begin to realize that the pathways to change are not going to be found within the systems that create them. It takes courage moreso than knowledge. Though knowledge is the key to opening courage to the possibilities, courage is needed to face the actual demons that will defend the current order.

Joan Robinson knew that economics isn't a neutral science—it’s all about power. We don't need more unthinking economists parroting econ class teachings. We need rethinkers ready to push for an economy that serves people and planet. If you agree, join the movement. ✊

Ask yourselves why big business doesn’t need "a movement" to get legislation passed, but for "we the people" politicians tell us we need to "build a movement" just to get our basic needs met?

If you paid $1 in property taxes, you paid more than Madison Square Garden, controlled by the billionaire Dolan family who own the Knicks. That’s a $43 million taxpayer subsidy a year. Average ticket price to see the Knicks tonight: $1,894. Yes. Billionaires are the problem.
