Good morning from Virginia. πΊπΈ
On the morning of November 7, 1861, the Mississippi was running low and the air was damp and chill as a small flotilla of steamboats, guarded by the gunboats Tyler and Lexington, eased toward the Missouri shore a few miles above the ferry landing at Belmont. Aboard were roughly three thousand Union soldiers under a new brigadier general named Ulysses S. Grant, a man still largely untested in command. Across the river, on the high bluffs at Columbus, Kentucky, Confederate guns commanded the water. Grantβs landing at Hunterβs Farm was meant to be screened by woods and out of easy range of those batteries. The men stepped ashore into cornfields and timber and began the march south.
For hours the fighting was a slow, stubborn business of skirmish lines and advancing regiments. Grant stayed forward with the troops. Early in the action a horse was shot from under him; he took another from a staff officer and continued. By early afternoon the Union men had driven the Confederate defendersβfirst a small camp force, then reinforcements under Brigadier General Gideon Pillowβback through an abatis of felled trees and into their tents at Camp Johnston. The camp was overrun. Tents went up in smoke. Prisoners and a pair of guns were taken. For a brief time it appeared the day had gone as Grant intended.
Then the picture changed. From the Kentucky side Major General Leonidas Polk sent more men across the river. Fresh regiments, and later troops under Benjamin Cheatham, struck the Union force as it began to pull back toward the boats. What had been an advance became a running fight through the woods. Some officers spoke of surrender. Grantβs answer, later remembered, was plain: they had cut their way in and could cut their way out. The column fought back to the landing under pressure, the rear ranks taking the heaviest fire.
Near the end Grant was still on the field. He rode out looking for stragglers and found Confederate troops closer than he expected. When he reached the river the transports were already casting off. A captain recognized him and ordered a plank run out. Grantβs horse, as he later wrote, seemed to understand. There was no gentle path down the bankβthe Mississippiβs edge at that season was steep. The horse put its forefeet over, slid on its haunches, and trotted across the single plank onto the deck. Grant was the last man of his army to leave Missouri that day. Once aboard he went to the upper deck. A bullet later passed through the sofa where he had briefly lain.
Both sides paid heavily. Union losses came to about 607β120 killed, 383 wounded, 104 missing or captured. Confederate losses were roughly 641. Each side claimed the victory. The camp had been destroyed and prisoners taken, yet the Union force had been driven back to its boats and Columbus still held. What remained clearest, in the quiet after the guns fell silent, was the character of the commander who had chosen to attack rather than wait. In a war still young, and with many generals still cautious, Grant had shown he was willing to take the offensive with the men and boats he had. It was only his first real combat command. It would not be his last.

π’TODAYβS UPDATE: He came off the vent today!!! Praise God!!!
The downside, however, is that because heβs more awake and alert, heβs agitated because of all the tubes and wires. Not to mention the horrible swelling.
Somewhere close to 30 staples in his head. Keep praying β¦ itβs working!!
β οΈUPDATE: His temp has spiked since the decompressive craniotomy surgery early Sunday morning. Yesterday morning it was 102Β° when me, Andrea and his big brother went to visit. He has some type of infection heβs fighting and drβs are working to bring his temp down.
Big brother handled it well, better than I thought. We all laughed some together and prayed β¦ a lot. One huge positive sign was that he did open his eyes and he squeezed my hand!!
Keep the prayers coming. Long road ahead. Doctors are fairly confident about his recovery but are also preparing us for the possibility of being in the hospital for 1-3 months. Thank you to all who are praying ππΌ

Hello guys. Forrest and I felt led to start a give send go for @sola_chad and his wife. The have suddenly taken in 2 boys for the foreseeable future and as foster parents ourselves we know how hard this is BUT they are not in the foster system so they will recieve NO compensation for this at all. We know how hard it was to even stay above water WITH the stipend amount. I canβt imagine this happening with no warning and no stipend. One of the little boys is in the hospital and this is going to be a hard road God has chosen so helping ease the financial burden would be awesome if you feel led. Prayers first and foremost but if you are able to donate that would surely help them!
Please share!

UPDATE: Went and visited my little buddy last night for a few hours. The pressure in his brain kept going up and down, so the dr came and made some adjustments and gave him some different meds and everything seemed to level out about the time I left (around 9:00pm).
Talked to hospital staff this morning and his pressure was kind of high around 4am so they decided to do the decompressive craniotomy surgery. The dr thought while he was stable enough but with pressure continuing to rise it was the right time. He is stable!
Me, Andrea, and his big brother are going down tomorrow. Pray for my little buddies. Older brother has said several times he misses his little brother and this will be the first time heβs seen him like this. And please continue your prayers for the little guy and all of our family.

π¨ HORRIFIC NEW DETAILS: Two young siblings murdered by their own mother were not only strangled - toxicology findings reveal multiple drugs in their systems.
A Massachusetts medical examiner has finally revealed the causes of death for 7-year-old Kai MacAusland and his little sister, 6-year-old Ella MacAusland, who were found dead inside their Wellesley home on April 24, 2026.
According to the medical examiner, BOTH children died from mechanical asphyxia and acute intoxication involving multiple medications, including:
* Zolpidem (Ambien), a prescription sleeping medication.
* Lorazepam (Ativan), a prescription medication commonly used for anxiety.
* Acetaminophen (Tylenol).
* Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin).
Their mother, 49-year-old Janette MacAusland, an acupuncturist and massage therapist, is now facing two counts of first-degree murder.
Authorities state that Janette killed her children around April 22 before fleeing approximately 140 miles to her auntβs home in Vermont.
When she arrived, investigators say she was distraught, bleeding from a wound on her neck, and confessed to killing both children.
According to police, she later admitted:
βI strangled them and tried to kill myself.β
Authorities say she explained that she had wanted herself and her children to βgo to God together.β
Police subsequently located both children dead inside their Massachusetts home.
Janette and her estranged husband were involved in a divorce and custody battle. Her husband had filed for divorce in October 2025 and requested custody of the children.
The children were killed just days after the court appointed someone to investigate the familyβs custody situation.
Medical experts say the combination of sedating medications and asphyxiation could become significant evidence in determining whether the killings were premeditated.
On October 19, a grand jury indicted Janette on two counts of first-degree murder. She has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody without bail.
She is scheduled to appear in Norfolk Superior Court on November 3.
If convicted, she faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.

I have another prayer request. I tend to focus and flip out over things and I was wondering if you could pray for my brotherβs surgery. He has the same heart defect as his daughter who is awaiting surgery. This surgery is because of his fall off of a ladder but heβs never had anesthesia and itβs more dangerous with a heart defect π« so naturally Iβm all worked up, because thatβs what I doβ¦ God help me..Itβs Thursday if you could keep him in prayer for no complications please. Heβs my best friend besides my husband and I love him very much. Thanks for being so kind about my prayer requests the past week, itβs been a hard time.

I have a random prayer request if you wouldnβt mind sending one up for my brother, Iβd greatly appreciate it.
We used to see my dad and stepmom at least once a year until she passed away over a year ago. We have asked our dad if we can come visit. He ignores those requests like we didnβt ask them. We have asked him to come visit us and was told he doesnβt travel anymore since his late wife was his travel partner.
We just learned that my dad has a new love interest who lives in a different state and they are planning a trip together. My brother is distraught over this and has to tell my niece and nephew why they have a grandpa they never see anymore. My dad and brotherβs relationship has made him feel negative about himself. He is struggling.
My brother is an amazing father, husband and friend and doesnβt deserve to feel this way. I pray God takes this feeling from him, so he realizes what a great man he is. Thank you π«Ά

Good morning friends! Let's wake up, pray up, and armor up! Dear Lord, thank you for this wonderful day you have given us and thank you for bringing us together here on this platform called X. Thank you for loving us Lord and please let everyone reading this know that they are loved. Let them know that you would part the sea for them to clear a path so they could walk through. You will move heaven and earth to show them your will. Let them know that all of creation is controlled by you, yet you love us so much that you came to earth, were humiliated, suffered, were ridiculed, were beaten and nailed to a cross after being whipped and spit on, and you did it and carried it through for us. You could have called on thousands of angels to save you, but You could see every one of us when you were on that cross, and you carried it through because you love us. Because of your sacrifice for us, we are made new. We are forgiven for our sins, and we are made righteous and holy in God's eyes. You knew that Got is holy, and no sin can be in his presence, so you sacrificed yourself, the only person that never sinned, and spilled your pure blood to pay for ours. Thank you for loving us Lord. Please bless and protect all of us today, including our military and leaders. Please protect our troops always, wherever they may be. Thank you Lord for always blessing and prospering us and showering us with your love. In Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen. ππΌ Happy RED Friday fam! Have an awesome day!
