The “ish” in Healthy-ish might actually be the most important part.
Because healthy isn’t perfect.
The “ish” is the learning.
It’s questioning.
It’s paying attention.
It’s making better choices when we can.
It’s growing some of our food while still buying plenty of it.
It’s cooking from scratch most often, but not feeling guilty when we don’t.
It’s moving our bodies because they deserve to move, and resting them because they deserve that too.
It’s caring about what we eat without making food a source of guilt or shame.
It’s changing one thing at a time instead of trying to overhaul our entire lives overnight.
It’s understanding that what works for one person might not work for another.
It’s getting something wrong, learning something new and changing our minds.
It’s mindset.
Gratitude.
Curiosity.
Balance.
Accountability.
And slow, sustainable change.
It’s knowing there will always be another thing to learn, another skill to build, another habit we could improve.
And being completely okay with that.
We don’t want Healthy-ish to make anyone feel like they aren’t doing enough.
We want it to remind people how much they can do.
Grow one tomato.
Cook one more meal at home.
Learn where your food comes from.
Read one label.
Plant something for the pollinators.
Spend more time outside.
Ask more questions.
Change one habit.
Then maybe change another.
There is no finish line where you finally become “healthy.”
We’re just trying to live a little better, understand a little more, and take better care of ourselves and the little piece of the world around us.
That’s the “ish.”
And honestly, we just think there’s a whole lot of freedom in it. 💛
What a gorgeous autumn night!
The full moon is just lighting up the sky and for the first time, everything we own is finally here at home, in one place!
We really hope you're all enjoying your evening and have a restful night's sleep tonight.
Goodnight from us 💛
That's better! 🍂
A layer of fallen leaves around our apple trees will help insulate the roots through winter, retain moisture, and feed the soil as they decompose.
Keeping the mulch a few inches away from the trunk to prevent rot!
Did you know you can eat carrot tops?!
These gorgeous greens are getting a good wash and then will be dried to be saved for soups, stews and homemade seasoning blends!
Good Sunday morning!!!
What a beautiful foggy morning out here in the countryside!
We have another exciting and busy day ahead, but it's shaping up to be another gorgeous one!
We are wishing everyone a wonderful and peaceful Sunday!
What a day we've had!
Got a whole lot accomplished today and even stepped outside our comfort zone a little. We have so much to be grateful for, and so much to look forward to!
Hope you've all had a great Saturday and are enjoying your evening!
Goodnight from us 💛 Rest well
We had such a good time chatting with Ryan about our journey, what brought us here to X, how our lives and priorities have changed, and how our F.A.R.M. (Food, Awareness, Routine & Mindset) plays into it all!
A big thank you to @yngfarmpreneur for having us on The Gate's Open!
We feel honoured to have been included, especially since we're just beginning our homesteading journey! We really appreciate you inviting us to speak.

We're stepping outside our comfort zone tonight!
We've been invited to chat with @yngfarmpreneur on The Gate's Open about our journey and how F.A.R.M. (Food, Awareness, Routine & Mindset) fits into it all!
We are a little nervous, but very excited!
Join us live at 5pm Eastern!
Breakfast for dinner tonight!
We've got leftover sausage, with homemade sauerkraut, homegrown diced tomatoes, and dippy eggs on sourdough toast!
An early dinner for us because we've been invited to be interviewed on a brand new podcast at 5pm today!!
One row of Chantenay Red and two rows of Danvers Half Long carrots!
Our first carrot harvest together in 13 years!
So glad we decided to give that midsummer garden a go!
It’s been 13 years since we grew carrots... in our very first garden together!!!!!! 😃
We ended up with more than we knew what to do with and back then we had not learned how to can or preserve.
Soooo many carrots were gifted to family and friends!!
These can handle the frost, so we’re leaving them a little longer. But we couldn’t resist pulling a couple just to see!!
Want to help to bring back the firefly population?!
Don't bag away their habitat, and leave your leaves this year!! 🍂
Firefly larvae and many other insects and small wildlife rely on leaf litter for shelter and protection through winter.
Let the leaves provide the protection they need, break down, feed the soil and return that valuable carbon to the earth just as nature intended it!
