Plenty of experimentation in @ElsevierConnect recsys team: re-ranking recommendations using click-models, embeddings from citation graphs, and leveraging citations to recommend cold-start articles.

Refreshing, attempts of deep learning-based #recsys didn't yield big improvements at @sciencedirect (listwise L2R on the left in the chart, neural nets on the right)

Lots of data in different places at Elsevier's #recsys. By combining it, Elsevier can infer topics, h-indices, and match, e.g., funding opportunities to the right level of researcher.

Next up: Finne and Minh from Elsevier's #recsys team, on the different academic paper recommenders at @ElsevierConnect, e.g., @MendeleyApp and @sciencedirect

Work presented at #recsys2018 on controllability in #recsys. Studied in three flavors (📷), and measured acceptance, cognitive load, and "experience" of added controls. Finds more control incurs higher cognitive load, and experts benefit the most (in acceptance). @katrien_v
