“Why do some British people dislike Donald Trump?” Nate White, an eloquent and witty English writer, gave this magnificent answer: Trump lacks certain qualities that the British traditionally value. He has no nobility, no charm, no composure, no gravitas, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour, and no grace — qualities with which, strangely enough, his predecessor, Mr Obama, was abundantly blessed. Although Trump may be ridiculous, he has never said anything ironic, amusing, or even remotely funny — not once, ever. I do not mean this rhetorically. I mean it literally: never. To the British, a lack of humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it is a fact. He does not even seem to understand what a joke is. To him, a joke is a crude remark, an illiterate insult, an act of casual cruelty. Trump is like a troll: he never laughs or enjoys himself; he merely squeals with delight or derision. And the most frightening thing is that he does not merely utter crude and stupid insults: he actually means them. His mind is nothing more than a robotic algorithm of petty prejudices and instinctive malice. There is no irony in him, no complexity, no subtlety, no depth. Everything is superficial. What we see is a man without an inner world, without a soul. In Britain, we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are courageous underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither courageous nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite. He is not even merely a spoiled rich boy or a greedy fat cat. He is more like a giant white slug, a privileged Jabba the Hutt. And, worse still, he is a bully. When he finds himself among other bullies, he suddenly becomes a whining lackey. He punches down — something a gentleman should never, could never, and must never do — and every blow he delivers is below the belt. He particularly enjoys attacking the vulnerable or the voiceless, and he kicks them when they are down. That is why the fact that a substantial minority — perhaps a third — of Americans watch what he does, listen to what he says, and then think, “Yes, he seems like my kind of guy,” is a source of bewilderment and profound distress to the British. After all, it is impossible to read a single tweet of his or hear him utter a sentence or two without staring into the abyss. He turns shallowness into an art form. He is the Picasso of pettiness, the Shakespeare of shit. His flaws are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on to infinity. There have always been stupid people in the world, and villains have never been in short supply either. But rarely has stupidity been so evil, or evil so stupid. He makes Nixon seem trustworthy and George W. Bush seem intelligent. If Frankenstein had decided to create a monster composed entirely of human flaws, he would have created Trump, and the remorseful Dr Frankenstein would have cried out in despair, “My God, what have I created?” If an idiot were a television show, Trump would be the entire set.

“Basically, you're done, Trump. You're done, Hegseth. It won't be long before you're politically thrown down that dark, deep hole.” - Lieutenant Colonel Malcom Ritchie (retired) from the U.S. Army Reserve. “…. And I'm here today, not as a candidate, making that disclaimer. I am here to express my outrage at the meeting in Quantico, Virginia between Hegseth, Trump, and all of the senior officers in the United States military and the senior NCO corps. Those generals, Admirals, and senior NCOs sat there in stone face silence, listening to the most outrageous speeches ever made in United States military history by the Secretary of Defense and the President of the United States. Secretary of Defense on his this ridiculous rant. Trying to take to school, Generals, Admirals, senior NCOs with 10 times the leadership ability, the education and the experience. that the failed Major Hech could ever begin to understand. And then they have to listen to the cognitively declined President of the United States who I would now name as dictator of the United States. tell all this audience that they will be expected to wage war against the American people. That's exactly what Trump said. So don't get on here and try to tell me that he didn't say it. training grounds in American cities. What's that mean? They're going to go in locked and loaded into American cities, American neighborhoods and use American citizens as pop-up targets on a live fire training. range, This is absolutely astounding. Abuse of power which makes by my estimation Donald Trump a domestic enemy of the Constitution. Because my oath is to the Constitution and don't you think for one minute, Mr. Trump, that there aren't millions of other veterans and retirees that feel exactly the same way. We are enraged, we are beyond enraged, and we will protest peacefully. And we will go out and vote for the candidates of our choice in the 2026 midterm election, which you better not even try to stop. If you try to stop that by force, that's the nightmare scenario. And I'm not saying by violence, I'm saying politically. Basically, you're done, Trump. You're done, Hegseth. It won't be long before you're politically thrown down that dark, deep hole. But don't think it's not going to cause a lot of trauma on the American people, as they clutch to the roots of the hole on the way down, trying to survive something that they cannot possibly survive because this nation is a republic and it will not fall to a fascist regime.”

The Line Has Been Crossed. Act Like It. For ten years Europe has treated Trump's affection for Moscow as a personality quirk, something to be managed with flattery, state dinners and a larger order for American jets. That era of polite self-deception is over. A president who funds the aggressor and starves the victim has answered the question of whose side he is on, and anyone still waiting for more evidence is not being cautious but is simply afraid of the conclusion. Ukraine must plan as though American support is gone and American pressure is coming. Any deal drafted in Washington should be read as a deal drafted in Moscow, and Kyiv has every right to refuse a peace designed by two men who want it to lose. Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand should take no comfort in distance. A president who trades away Ukraine for cheaper diesel will trade away Taiwan for less, and their security guarantees are worth exactly what his word is worth. The democracies of the Pacific and the Atlantic need to bind themselves to each other directly, in arms, intelligence and trade, with Washington outside the room. The playbook already exists, because we wrote it for Russia: reduce exposure, close dependencies, sanction the enablers, and wait for better leadership while preparing for it never to arrive. America may return to us one day. Until then, we treat Trump's United States as what it has chosen to be.

It’s asinine to think AI development is going to slow down. In the history of mankind, technology has never been intentionally slowed. Nobody paused electricity because people got electrocuted. Nobody stopped building railways because of crashes. Nobody banned cars because of accidents. Nobody shut down the internet because of fraud. What are AI scientists supposed to do? Mandatory nap time for 2-3 hours? The buildout continues. The capex continues. The race does not pause because someone wrote an essay.

This is a truly, truly awful GP track. This is Monaco, but worse because it's actually been designed for these cars. At least Monaco can say it's a track from a different era of cars. Which clowns thought this would be a good track?

What is the point of making a brand new Formula 1 track and making it so narrow that you can’t overtake or actually race? The Madring is absolutely atrocious. #F1 #Formula1

The Incident: On April 25, 1980, the Trump Organization executed an eviction against Mary Filan, a 74-year-old widow who was partially paralyzed from a recent stroke. The Location: The eviction occurred at her rent-controlled apartment in Flushing, Queens, where she had lived for over 30 years. The Dispute: The Trump Organization claimed she owed four months of back rent. However, Filan maintained that her rent was fully paid, stating that her last bill was a minor balance of $10.20, which she had already cleared. The Aftermath: City marshals and moving crews removed her belongings—including her furniture and jewelry—leaving her sitting on a laundry hamper in the apartment. Due to the trauma and her medical condition, neighbors and city social services arranged for her immediate admission to a local hospital. Joe Conason for the Village Voice in May 1980 under the headline "Trump Evicts Stroke Victim, 74." The case also received brief coverage in The New York Times. When questioned at the time, a spokesperson for the Trump Organization stated that management handled those issues and that they "don't get involved with individual cases."
