I'm gonna let Sanwise Gamgee explain what made FF7 so great and why following the OG story is not "bad writing" or that you "hate the characters" just because you want to keep the story the same.

I finished drawing that sketch of Isha, who had a chance to grow up

If Aerith had snapped him out of it she wouldn't be running for her life and handing him the black materia. She would've just snapped him out of it before he went all Jack Nicholson from The Shining

him out of it, he wouldn’t have needed to try and remember who tf she was.
Cloud only turns around to even acknowledge Aer AFTER he’s given the BM to Seph and the control is let go. The only reason he was even able to turn around was bc Seph now had what he wanted, otherwise⬇️

knew he wasn’t going to snap out of it so she just handed it to him.
In fact, after handing it to Seph, Cloud was still coming out from under his control so much so that he had to remind himself who that was at the end of the path was (cue montage of Aer). If Aer had snapped⬇️

give him the Black Materia. You know, the one thing she was trying to keep away from him for reasons of, idk, protecting the Planet? What did she do instead, Cali—that’s right, she willingly relinquished it bc she knew Cloud would beat the shit out of her, or worse, for it. Aer⬇️

Aerith didn’t break Cloud out. Had Aerith not given Cloud the BM he would have KILLED her. Aerith herself realized this which is the only reason why she gave it to Cloud even though she knew how dangerous it was. She had no choice because she would have died.

Nobody has ever believed me when I've tried to describe how exruciating it is for me to wake up, and instead people have gaslighted me about it all my life. Remembering it makes me so fucking angry.
BREAKING: Sleep and neurology researchers confirm that "morning grogginess" in ADHD is actually severe Sleep Inertia—a state where the prefrontal cortex takes up to 60 minutes longer to restore blood flow and dopamine signaling after waking up than a neurotypical brain.
If waking up your ADHD child (or yourself) at 7:00 AM feels like trying to wake up a hibernating bear who wants to fight everyone in the house, here is the science of why:

Speaking of consistency, just wanted to take this opportunity to post the #KissCopeList as of Nov 1, 2026 in case some new community members have missed it. Or just for laughs.
If our opps were ever forced to keep a consistent narrative I think they would implode.
Cloud kisses Tifa because he’s in love with her.
He doesn’t kiss Aerith because he’s not in love with her. See? Easy answer. Mystery solved.
Not the answer some of yall wanted but you can’t always get what you want.

日本からも「実は、最初はエアリスとのキスシーンを製作してたのに、後からティファにすげ替えた。だから鼻キスなんて手抜きな出来になった」がエントリーしています

Only a Clerith would use this scene where Cloud is being controlled by Sephiroth for shipping.
Here's Cloud pushing Aerith out of the way and he didn't need Sephiroth on his ear to do it unlike with Tifa.

These sort of takes are extremely hilarious and hypocritical coming from people who accuse Stolas of being a rapist
As if Blitz wasn't the one running towards Stolas begging to be able to fuck him right after the contract was over

The devs explicitly said, "Go check out Tifa’s date; there’s a surprise in it that you’re going to like."
They didn’t say to check out Aerith’s.
So, if one of the dates were canon, it would definitely be Tifa’s.
