✍️ Inspiring the storytellers of the future!
📚 We were delighted to welcome storyteller and published @authoradam to Red House School for a series of workshops with our Senior School pupils, exploring the art of storytelling, creative writing and deeper themes through literature.
💭 From imagining weird and wonderful monsters inspired by Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, to exploring spooky ballads and crafting compelling narratives, pupils had plenty of opportunities to put their creativity to the test. Workshops also explored philosophical questions around evil and suffering, alongside creative descriptive writing opportunities for our gifted and talented writers.
📝 Through imaginative activities, literary inspiration and practical writing techniques, pupils explored how to bring characters and settings to life, build atmosphere and engage their readers.
👏 A huge thank you to Adam for an engaging and inspiring visit!

A fantastic charity netball match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, with our Y11 girls taking on the Y11 boys! The girls came out on top 12-5, but the real winners were the charities benefiting from the money raised. A brilliant game played in great spirit! 💗
🏥 Year 10 Health and Social Care pupils enjoyed a fantastic visit to Hartlepool Hospital, where they had the opportunity to explore the wide range of careers available within the NHS.
🩻 Through interactive stations and a patient journey scenario, pupils discovered how different NHS professionals and services work together to provide high-quality patient care.
🩺 They explored the hospital’s simulated bays, immersive suite and classrooms, gaining valuable insights into the diverse roles and responsibilities within healthcare.
The experience also helped to raise aspirations and broaden pupils’ understanding of the education and training pathways available beyond secondary school.
🌟 A fantastic opportunity to inspire future career ambitions and discover the many possibilities within the NHS!

🧑🔬 Last week pupils had a very busy Biology Week with lots of practical activities taking place across the school!
🧬 Year 7 made their own onion cell slides and jelly cell models, while Year 8 built DNA models. Year 9 investigated which antiseptics were most effective against bacteria, and Year 11 put their ecology skills to the test using quadrats to sample plant species. Pupils also enjoyed dissecting owl pellets to explore food chains.
🧫 Years 9, 10 and 11 took part in a Biology Spelling Bee. Congratulations to our winners: Jake in Year 9, Ted in Year 10 and Dylan in Year 11.

❤️ Thank You, Red House Families! ❤️
🍞 A huge thank you to all our families who generously donated to our Billingham & Stockton Borough Foodbank collection. Today, we handed over a van packed full of food to support those in our local community.
💬 Following last week’s thought-provoking assembly with Helen Winspear and Bernard Liversidge, we learnt more about the incredible work they do and how vital support from places like Red House is.
🤝 The assembly was a powerful reminder of how fortunate we are and how important it is to look out for others.
🥰 Thank you once again to everyone who donated and helped make today’s collection such a success.
