"People with a history of mental illness and a high income are at greater risk of committing suicide than their lower income counterparts." -PMCID: PMC1119558 pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article…
Careful when you go looking for meaning and purpose in money. The answer is most definitely not "more money" once you've hit income satiation at around 100k a year. If you hit that threshold and you're still not happy and you feel lost and isolated then you have failed to use that money wisely.
Ultimately, money is just a facilitator. The $100k earner isn't happy because of the digits in their bank account; they are happy if they use those digits to secure the very things we notice are currently missing from our lives: active purpose, deep social bonds, and personal independence.
Monks are poor yet they have the structured community, the shared lack of shame, and the clear daily direction that a monastery automatically hands to its members.
Nobody can tell you your purpose. You have to find it and that requires effort.
One of the reasons so many average people stay poor is because they believe they are special. They believe their life is going to magically change because they're going to get a letter in the mail from magic school inviting them on an adventure.
The reality is, we get those letters every single day. They just look like risk and a shitload of work, with no guarantee of a payoff.
"Old soul" is often what we call a child who had to grow up too fast. Parentification, abuse, rejection, and dissociation can affect a person's relationship with their body, sense of self, and need to belong. But trauma doesn't produce one predictable outcome. Trauma doesn't make you more or less trans. And questioning your identity doesn't mean you're not trans.

noticing a strange trend with my transfem mutuals where they seem to suffer from having an overbearing mom who treats them like a surrogate husband

if those men are so lonely, why are they not making friends, or going out and socializing with people? why is everything about sexual gratification?
