Reference Pictures for Artists

@Ref_PicsJan 17

A lot of reference you find online is going to be over-edited garbage that will teach you all sorts of bad lessons about colors, values, etc. I put out a free pack of mostly landscape reference that's minimally edited and great for studies: Reference.Pictures/Free-Mega…

Do as many 30~ minute color studies as you can No color picker, don't worry too much about details, just get the big shapes and colors Few things will teach you better to capture a sense of light in your work

You could do this, starting today or tomorrow You could just paint whatever is on sktch.quest that day and learn so much in the next few months

Back in 2021 I set the goal of doing 100 figure paintings and I learned an insane amount from all that

Every generation of artists seems to need to rediscover that all of the artists before them have used reference

Snakepit SkelALTon@BanguscertifiedOct 9

Wait you’re telling me like 90% of artists are just drawing from reference most of the time
