🎙️ THE BOOMBOX MENTALITY.
What does it take to represent Southern University when the lights are brightest?
2003 SWAC Champion James Vernon and 2013 SWAC Champion Lee Doss @LeeDoss_2 sit down to talk about the magnitude of the BoomBox Classic, the intensity of the Southern vs. Jackson State rivalry, and the mindset it took to lead championship-caliber teams on The Bluff. 🐆🏆
This rivalry is bigger than a game. It’s tradition. Pride. Culture. Legacy.
And when you put on that Jaguar uniform, you’re not just playing for yourself — you’re playing for everyone who came before you and everyone who will come after you.
The BoomBox Classic is HERE. 🎺🏈

Here’s the 2013 @theswac 🏈 Championship, when these two HBCU football powers met with a 🏆 on the line. It was an ESPN Instant Classic! @GeauxJags @gojsutigersfb
The thing is what they hearing at practice is nothing compared to what they will hear Saturday…..iykyk
NEW: LSU and Lane Kiffin hired fraternity members to heckle players at practice ahead of the Ole Miss game😂

🕊️ IN REMEMBRANCE OF VIRGIL “VIRGIL ISLAND” WILLIAMS 🕊️
Forever a Jaguar. Forever 7. 💙💛
Before the nickname, before the accolades, there was a competitor who left everything on the field every Saturday.
Virgil Williams was a standout in the Southern University secondary from 2010–2013, leaving his mark on Jaguar football and the SWAC.
🏆 2013 SWAC Champion
⭐ 2012 & 2013 All-SWAC First Team — Defensive Back
Today, we celebrate Virgil Island — his talent, his passion, and the memories he gave to Jaguar Nation.
Your legacy will continue to live on through the game you loved and the people who had the privilege of watching you play.
Rest in Power, 7. 🕊️💙💛

Facts!
They treated Grambling the same way they would any other school. That’s the specific section in their stadium for away bands. The rest of the stadium is available for season book purchase. They are not going to move season book holders for one game to accommodate a band.
