What the hell is this??🤣
Today @maryamyy0 and I are coming out of stealth with Sexbot. A companion that's always there for you. Built to fix the growing loneliness in the world. We raised $5M to build it. Pre-orders are open now. Link in the comments.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This is not a real product/service. It's made up to advertise this person's real company which creates launch videos. Source: sexbot.services/kidding

hot take: an AI app that needs an account to work on files already on your laptop is a data product with a nice UI. The files are local. The login isn't for you.

Correction: I got this one wrong. Claude's subscriptions lead explained the old "20x" only ever described the 5-hour limit. Ultra keeps the same usage as Max 20x, and verified accounts now lose the 5-hour cap. Nothing was cut in half. My bad for posting before checking.
They silently cut the usage limit in half for the 200 USD plan....

Your voice doesn't need the cloud to become text. Hex from @opencode just went stable. Hold Option, talk, let go, and it pastes wherever your cursor is. → speech runs on-device. v3 cut local model memory from ~900 MB to ~160 MB → free, MIT licensed, native Rust. Apple silicon Macs on macOS 15+, with Windows and Linux betas → no audio saved by default. the one opt-in that leaves your machine is the OpenCode rewrite, which sends the transcript to your model provider Dictation should have been local by default years ago. Built by @thdxr and team. What are you using for dictation right now?

no matter what agent you're using, your voice is the best way to talk to them and hex is the best way to use your voice: - fast - runs locally - works on mac, windows, linux stable release now available: anoma.ly/hex

We’re renaming our Max plans: Max 5x → Max Max 20x → Ultra Max is still $100/month, and Ultra is still $200. If you’re a subscriber, there’s nothing you need to do. We’re also removing the 5-hour limit for verified Ultra accounts, starting today with most existing subscribers. Newer accounts keep a temporary limit until they’re verified, which helps us prevent fraud and abuse. You'll get an email when it's removed. Weekly limits remain unchanged. Open weights don't make an AI app private. If the model runs on someone else's server, your prompts are exactly as exposed as they'd be in ChatGPT. Open is a license. Private is where the inference runs.

If an AI app needs an account just to work, it's not really a tool. It's a data pipeline with a nice UI.

AI writing most of the code at a privacy company doesn't scare me. Skipping the security testing would. If you sell trust, speed is the wrong thing to brag about. teapaw.org/steipete/status/211612…
Bullish on Andy Yen and Proton. He gets it. The culture war, or rather the loss of identity some engineers feel as AI redefines our jobs is difficult; I sympathize. Also understand that he runs a business and might has limited patience when we now had two years to process, learn, change and grow.
