A third-party, government-vetted FOIA response is the only way to guarantee a candidate hasn't altered or carefully selected specific pages of their Official Military Personnel File.
Federal privacy laws prevent the military from releasing a veteran's full file to the public without a signed release form from the veteran themselves.
Because Alani Bankhead will not sign that waiver, her true, comprehensive file remains shielded from journalists and the public.

The fact that officers in that unit were permitted to retire honorably is a total failure to deliver on the accountability Pence promised.
In Lyle Bankhead's case, he immediately transitioned to another high-paying federal law enforcement job at the EPA. Now, his wife is splitting the vote for Kurt Alme to advance as U.S. Senator.
This is why signing off on a FOIA to release your records is so important. How many Montanans would ever know her husband did anything but "work at the EPA," as she often references, when he actually may owe a lifetime debt for his career to Trump defending his imcompetent and potentially biased behavior towards abused women?

It's too late now to know fully what Alani Bankhead is lying about or covering up, or Seth Bodnar is lying about for that matter.
Both have refused to sign off on a release of their military records. What's hiding in there? Both also have appeared to have lied on their resumes. Not one reporter in our state caught this.
Why won't they sign off? Without these records we cannot fact-check Bodnar or Bankhead or who they might be working for.
Alme makes it clear he is working for the anti-choice National Christian Foundation.
Outlets like the @mtfreepress and @mtpublicradio *SHOULD* cross-reference candidates against local property records, court databases, and public voter registries to establish timelines before running profile pieces.
In the #mtsen race, the #mtnews 100%, absolutely, did NOT do this due diligence, neither did the @MTDems.
