High schoolers, students: the twilight of macronism

A young girl protesting sums up the situation: ‘I don’t understand why they tell us not to revolt’, she says, ‘when our curriculum is literally full of people who revolt — Arthur Rimbaud, La Boétie, Olympe de Gouges’.
The people are in revolt, and the entire social order is collapsing.

In mainstream journalism, the idea that Western governments exist to serve their citizens is a dogma, a vow of intellectual abstinence required in return for progress up the promotional ladder. No amount of evidence to the contrary will unseat it because it's a decision, not an opinion or a belief.
In this framework, civil unrest is always unwarranted, because it threatens to disrupt the only acceptable means of exercising democratic power
The attempt to frame the protests in France as centring on one single demand or another is part of the project to make them out to be illegitimate: if they are about fuel prices, the government has no control over that. If they are about school funding or cost of living, the government will propose some reforms. Problem solved, protestors can go away, and any who stay are criminals and antidemocratic outsiders.
But the protests aren't about one thing: they're against austerity budgets that ruin lives, against billionaires, against military buildup and warmongering, against the ability of police to kill with impunity; against the neglect of public schools while private education received billions in subsidies, and fundamentally against the idea that anyone in power has any intention of changing any of this

It’s not just the government that covered up Russian interference in Brexit. The press also played its part. This is one of the only times I was ever interviewed on the subject… by US media.
Here it is. This is the clip from yesterday's @CNN interview where I'm asked - for first time ever - about Brexit-Trump-Russia.
"These vital questions of national security have been interpreted as about politics. And it's not about politics. It's about power. And about Putin."
