We are very saddened this weekend by the loss of RPD Marco who has passed after a very short retirement from Cumbria Dog Section. Our thoughts are with his handler who kept him as part of the family once his service was done. You did us proud Marco - thank you and rest well.
The last 24 hours have been the toughest I’ve had as a handler especially working today. Following a short illness Marco was diagnosed with cancer and deteriorated. We were with him at the end, and he passed in my arms at 21:51hrs. Sleep well my special friend Status 11!!(LOSS)

Here's a great video from our friend Mrs Birch-Machin @StocksfieldAve, showing us how to make elderflower cordial. This is one of our favourite summer drinks, is super refreshing and is really easy to do! youtube.com/watch?v=4zuFgMZw…

This is the most important trial result for COVID-19 so far. Significiant reduction in mortality in those requiring oxygen or ventilation from a widely available, safe and well known drug. Many thanks to those who took part and made it happen. It will save lives around the world.
The NIHR-supported RECOVERY trial has shown that dexamethasone, a steroid, significantly reduces the risk of dying from #COVID19 for seriously ill patients requiring respiratory intervention - a major breakthrough bit.ly/3ddeXsk #priorityCOVIDresearch

We’ve written an open letter to supermarkets, asking them to inform staff and customers that wearing a face covering might be hard for some people with lung conditions. Coverings aren’t mandatory in shops, but we don’t want people to feel under pressure: blf.org.uk/take-action/campa…

We need a new urban agenda for the north east. By May, the NE had become the area with the highest proportion of deaths, linked here to deprivation, inadequate housing, employment, & health conditions. Covid has exposed what many already knew. #NorthEast theguardian.com/world/2020/j…
