Focus is the bridge between dreams and reality. A thousand ideas mean nothing without execution. A hundred opportunities mean nothing without commitment. Pick your direction. Silence the noise. Show up every day. Greatness is built by those who stay focused when others get distracted.

If we had businessmen or business minded people in the lead, uganda would be far. Uganda needs business

The first day I entered the anatomy lab as a medical student tested my feelings. I had never entered a mortuary, but it felt like one. Seeing all those dead bodies lying on the table, waiting not just to be studied but dissected changed my thoughts about death. Nothing prepares you for this scene. And because I feared looking directly into their faces, I found a way out: I would pull the sheets to cover it. In that way, I could do my cutting of the other parts in peace without worrying about being stared at. I was enjoying this peace until we started doing anatomy of the head. At one point I requested my lecturer to teach me something on the brain, but we didn’t have a fresh brain to study…. So, he looked at me, and shifted his gaze to the handsaw that was lying on the table and said, “When you have a fresh brain, call me.” I went like😳😳🙆🏾‍♀️🙆🏾‍♀️ For the first time, I understood that someone had been cutting open those skulls to get out the brains I had always found soaked in formalin……and now it was my turn. It was time to uncover one face and move the handsaw, not once, not twice, but back and forth with occasional rests until the skull was separated into two! I grabbed the handsaw and I think my medicine officially started that day….

Today, I drove through one of Kampala’s suburbs and something broke my heart. The streets were almost empty. Just a few boda bodas and vehicles. Hardly any pedestrians. I kept thinking about how busy this same place was a few years ago. Shops were full of customers. Restaurants were busy. People were buying, selling and moving money around. Today, I saw shop after shop that had been vacated. Some businesses are still open, but you can almost feel the desperation behind the counters. And I kept asking myself: Where did the customers go? Behind every empty shop is someone who invested their savings, borrowed money, paid rent, stocked goods and employed people, only to find that customers are no longer spending like they used to. And this is the painful part of Uganda’s economy that we don’t always see in economic statistics. A business cannot survive on GDP growth. It needs customers with money in their pockets. It needs people who can afford to eat at restaurants, buy clothes, replace their phones, furnish their homes, take their children out and still have something left at the end of the month. When purchasing power disappears, businesses feel it first. They sell less. They cut staff. They accumulate rent arrears. They reduce stock. They close quietly. And another “For Rent” sign goes up. So, when will we see Uganda’s economy truly come back to life? Not just in reports and statistics but on our streets. When will we see busy shops again? Full restaurants? Thriving markets? Businesses hiring instead of laying off? Entrepreneurs making profits instead of struggling to survive? Because to me, economic recovery is when the ordinary Ugandan has enough money and confidence to spend again. Until then, those empty streets will continue telling a story that statistics may not fully capture. Where did the customers go and how do we bring them back?

A foreign trader was left in tears after Kenyans allegedly stole his stock following President William Ruto’s directive ordering foreign nationals engaged in hawking, street vending and small-scale retail businesses to cease operations by Monday, September 7, 2026. The directive has sparked fear, tension and reports of harassment among foreign traders operating in Kenya’s urban business hubs.

My church pastor rejected an invitation to minister in the US last year because the organisers didn't include his wife in the travel arrangements. He said, “I would love to go, but can you arrange for my wife to follow me?” The organiser told him they could only cater for one person, so my pastor rejected the invitation. Last month, a member of our church who is now a pastor in Israel invited my pastor’s wife to come and speak at a women’s programme. My pastor said his wife had already accepted the invitation and concluded the arrangements before even informing him. My pastor’s wife is currently in Israel...

Half-time, and it’s still goalless. But at least Shakira and the Ghetto Kids did what they do best, they lit up the stage and put smiles on our faces.

Nobody talks about the years when you look like you’re failing. They only talk about the moment it finally works. Bro, stay in the game.

GN ITIA Fam🌙 Stop exhausting yourself trying to be understood by everyone. Your vision will confuse some people. Your ambition will intimidate others. Your authenticity will attract the right ones. The people meant for your journey won't ask you to become someone else. Sleep well. Keep being unapologetically you. ART By @IThinkItsArt
