While checking in for a ct scan the person in front of me was checking in for a colonoscopy. She asked if they needed her ID - the woman checking her in said. And I quote.
“No, we don’t run into too many people showing up to take someone else’s colonoscopy”

We celebrated my Mom’s 98th birthday with my cousins from my Dad’s side of the family today. It’s actually on October 22nd but this was the only day for them to all get together. That’s her seated in the center of the photo🎉🥳

Sometimes I think this job has hardened me. Numbed me a bit. Another call. Another death. Another body. Another widow.
And then the phone will ring. It’s another cop. Another house call. And I’ll go to a family’s home on a beautiful Friday afternoon.
each time something like this happens, you are instilled with a little more hope for life and for humanity

May those in your life give you peace, belonging, hope, & beauty.
Relations you feel safe with. May you enjoy people that feel like you are returning to places feeling lighter, sweeter, & calming. May you rest your mind & heart in their presence. May you be missed in absence.✨️
