Macaulay Culkin was paid $110,000 for Home Alone and $4.5 million for the sequel. As a teenager, he had to take his own parents to court to get their names off his money. In the video below, Mac explains why, at 14, he told his family he was done: "I hope you all made your money, because there's no more coming from me." He was the third of seven kids. The family of nine lived in a tiny Manhattan apartment and struggled to pay the bills. His father, a former actor, quit his job to manage Mac's career. Mac says his father resented him for booking roles so easily. "I think he kind of hated me a little bit for that." He made two movies a year. On the road it was often just the two of them. "I was kind of locked in a room with a crazy person." When his parents split, they fought in court over custody and over who would run his career. Mac refused to visit his father. "I dare him to arrest the most famous kid in the world." Then he had both parents removed from his trust fund, estimated at $20 million. In 2018 he called his father "abusive, physically and mentally." His father has denied it. He hasn't spoken to him in over 30 years. "He's a man who has seven kids, and now he has four grandkids, and none of them want anything to do with him." Today Mac is a father of two. He says his dad taught him exactly what not to do.
