And so it begins. As Prof. Franke at @LawRtsReligion lifts up, Alabama is citing Dobbs to support blocking gender-affirming medical treatment because Dobbs overruled Lawrence’s underlying idea that “history and tradition” can’t be weaponized to hate a whole class of people.
Imp fact abt Dobbs decision: it returned the law to a pre-Lawrence v. TX (2003 sodomy case) approach to sub due process. Dobbs overruled the underlying principle of Lawrence: history & trad'n can't include "moral disapproval of a people or conduct", s/a hatred of LGBT people.

The overturning of Roe is not a win for people of faith. Gather with us across faiths as we grieve, pray & create a space of spiritual support & sustenance in this difficult moment. We will make sense of the moment & prepare ourselves for the road ahead. faithinpubliclife.org/crylou…
Please read our Call to Action to #philanthropy. To effectively combat religion's weaponization to eviscerate reproductive justice + queer rights, we must fund ACROSS movements and mitigate funder siloes. @ProteusFund we fund across movements, w/ powerful impact. cc @PiperFund

Today in Minnesota, @ErinMayeQuade gave a convention speech while in active labor. And her opponent didn’t think to ask to postpone the convention as she, you know, had to go to the hospital to deliver her baby. What the hell.
