একটি খোলা চিঠি! আর কবে? মোহনবাগানের ইতিহাসে একসময় ছিল মহিলা ফুটবল দল। ২০০১ সালে পথচলা শুরু করে সেই দল ২০০২ সালে জিতেছিল Calcutta Women’s Football League। কিন্তু অর্থাভাব ও পরিকাঠামোগত সমস্যার কারণে অচিরেই হারিয়ে যায় সেই দল। আজ, দুই দশকেরও বেশি সময় পেরিয়ে গেলেও, মোহনবাগানের মহিলা ফুটবল দল আর ফিরে আসেনি। অথচ আজ ভারতীয় মহিলা ফুটবল নতুন করে স্বপ্ন দেখাচ্ছে, নতুন ইতিহাস লিখছে। দেশের নানা প্রান্তের মেয়েরা ফুটবলকে পেশা হিসেবে বেছে নিচ্ছেন, দেশের হয়ে লড়ছেন। তাঁদের মধ্যে অনেকেই মোহনবাগানের সমর্থক। এমন অনেক মহিলা ফুটবলারও রয়েছেন, যাঁদের স্বপ্ন সবুজ-মেরুন জার্সি গায়ে মাঠে নামা। কিন্তু তাঁদের সেই স্বপ্ন পূরণের জন্য আজও নেই কোনও নিজস্ব মঞ্চ। এশিয়ার অন্যতম প্রাচীন সক্রিয় ক্লাব মোহনবাগানের কোটি কোটি মহিলা সমর্থক রয়েছেন। তাঁদের ভালোবাসা, আবেগ ও সমর্থন যদি ক্লাবের ইতিহাসের অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ হয়, তাহলে মহিলা ফুটবলারদের জন্য সবুজ-মেরুন জার্সিতে খেলার স্বপ্ন পূরণ হবে না কেন? আজ দেবীপক্ষের সূচনায়, নারীশক্তির আরাধনার এই পুণ্যলগ্নে, MBFT-এর পক্ষ থেকে মোহনবাগানের সিদ্ধান্তগ্রহণকারীদের কাছে আমাদের একটাই আবেদন— নারীশক্তির জয় হোক। মোহনবাগানে মহিলা ফুটবল ফিরুক। ঘোষণা হোক মোহনবাগান মহিলা দলের! আর কবে? {Joy Mohun Bagan, MBFT}

There’s a crazy Mohun Bagan connection here. In 1982, Mohun Bagan’s Manas Bhattacharya became the first Indian to score against a World Cup-winning nation, finding the net against two-time champions Uruguay in a 3-1 defeat. 44 years later, another Mohun Bagan man, Anirudh Thapa, has done it again — scoring against Uruguay. From Manas to Thapa. 🟢🔴

Super Proud of my Boys. 5 of our own started against Brazil and they have stood their ground. Apuia Thapa Sahal brought calm to the Midfield before #1's howlers. Tekcham stood his ground against Vinicius. Manvir, what could I say; brilliant against this Brazil CB pair consisting of Marquinhos and Gabriel. He couldn't score but who expected a Goal against Brazil? 4-0 doesn't feel so bad. Proud of the entire teams effort. @IndianFootball , keep playing against this top tier teams. This will actually benefit us in the long run.

Admire Samba. But Support Our Boys in Blue 🔵 🇮🇳 #IndianFootball #INDBRA
India is hosting Brazil in a historic match tonight 🇮🇳⚔️🇧🇷 We know many of you will be in attendance. We know many of you love the Brazil football team. But, as Akash Mishra said in an interview, “Admiration can wait for 90 minutes.” It's a game of two halves, and the whole world will be watching. It's time to show the world that Indians can play football, and that India has a football culture. Admire Brazil. Appreciate Brazil. But support the Blue Tigers today. If you are headed to Yuba Bharati, carry an Indian flag and an India jersey with you. Gurpreet needs our support when Brazil will try to score. Bijoy-Anwar needs our cheers when he will be up against the wonderkid Endrick. Tekcham deserves a loud cheer when he will fight 1v1 against Vinícius. Against the mighty Brazilian midfield, Apuia needs you from the gallery to rally behind him! When Marquinhos tries to set up his defence, Ryan, Manvir and Ashique need you to make Brazil feel the pressure! Let's support the Blue Tigers today. Let's show the world that India, the land of PK, Chuni and Balaram, can still play football and compete with the best. For 90 minutes, let's put our admiration aside and stand behind India. 🇮🇳 { Jai Hind, Indian Football, MBFT }

Photo OP and PR Culture by the ministers are the reason why Sports is failing apart in our country from cricket and a few exemplary athletes like Neeraj Chopra. #Indianfootball #INDBRA #Brazil
🚨 Absolutely embarrassing. The event was an absolute shambles. The event was organised for politicians’ photo opportunities. The Brazilian squad was called onto the stage and made to wait as politicians gave speeches before the photo op. The entire squad was left waiting. The same was followed with Uruguay and then the Indian team. All three teams were unhappy, according to a source present at the event, who told me that no big team will come to India if we continue with this kind of circus. #IndianFootball #INDBRA

🚨 "Sharam aa Rahi" Indian attending event tells me @KhelNow The event was organised by the West Bengal CM, but he himself did not attend the event. However, other ministers took centre stage and made Carlo Ancelotti and the Brazil team wait for around 10 minutes on stage while they completed their speeches before the photo opportunity. The Brazilian squad was called onto the stage and made to wait while politicians gave speeches. The same was followed with Uruguay and then the Indian team. All three teams were unhappy, according to a source present at the event, who told me that no big team will come to India if we continue with this kind of circus. A professional setup would want to keep players rested on matchday minus one. Many clubs in Europe even get their players to stay at the team hotel when playing at home to ensure proper rest and recovery before a professional match. #IndianFootball #INDBRA

The AFC Champions League Elite starts today. It's a bit of a mess. The AFC has a bad habit of copying's UEFA's bad ideas but not the good ones. We could do without the massive groups but at least Europe provides a Champions League pathway for all. And there is no way that Europe would tolerate one country hosting the quarter-finals onwards, a policy which damages the integrity of the tournament. Shutting out more than two-thirds of the continent and giving Saudi Arabia an unfair advantage is leading to increased apathy across Asia. howfootballexplainsasia.subs…

Naturalisation of players must not be replacing the whole first xi. It should be solving short term problems with naturalized players simultaneously upgrading the home grown players. The sons of soil potential should never be ignored over PIO/OCI #Indianfootball #PIO #OCI #AIFF
I could be wrong, but as an outsider, I don’t see many of Malaysia’s naturalised players actually raising the level of the team. Vietnam makes more sense to me. They had a finishing problem, so they naturalised a striker to fix it, while continuing to develop local players in other positions. Naturalisation should solve a problem or clearly upgrade the team. If it doesn’t, you’re just taking opportunities away from local players.

As per the latest update on @OptaAnalyst , the @IndSuperLeague is ranked at 182 out of 369 global leagues It's sandwiched between the Botswana PL where @chaitanya21012 is working and the Andorran top tier. For some reason, the @IndFtblLeague does not feature but the CFL does 🤷🏽‍♂️

In the recent historic qualification of India U-20 to the U-20 Asian Cup, massive credit has to be given to the Reliance Foundation Development League, which has given these players enough game time and enough matches to prosper.🇮🇳⚽️ Just for some stats: 1️⃣. 22 out of 23 players selected in India’s AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2027 qualifying squad featured in the Reliance Foundation Development League in the 2025-26 season. 2️⃣. These players accumulated 274 appearances in the RFDL 2025-26 season, an average of 12.5 matches per player. 3️⃣. Bengaluru FC’s Aheibam Suraj Singh recorded 8 clean sheets, while teammate Md. Arbash scored 9 goals during the season. 4️⃣. 60% of India’s U-20 squad came from Bengaluru FC and Punjab FC, with both clubs also being part of the exposure tour to Japan. This is how much of an impact a single league that does not come under the AIFF, and is run by Reliance Foundation, has had on Indian football. @RFYouthSports 👏🏻

A professional football coach is now being forced and pressured by the AIFF to take one particular individual as the team manager for the India U-15 team at the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival because of people’s opinions on Instagram. This is another new low for the AIFF. Here are the results when a similar stunt was pulled for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2024 qualifiers. #IndianFootball

The amount of disrespect, misinformation, and outright hate directed at Bibiano Fernandes over the past few days has been nothing short of embarrassing for the Indian football ecosystem. This isn’t about whether Bibiano Fernandes should or shouldn’t be the India U-15 coach. It’s about how narratives are being manufactured, how public opinion is being manipulated, and how years of genuine contribution are being undermined to serve personal agendas. When the pursuit of a position becomes more important than fairness, integrity is the first casualty. What’s even more disappointing is how easily these narratives are being accepted. A large section of the audience doesn’t even understand what FIFA’s U-15 programme actually is. It is not a FIFA World Cup. It is a developmental festival designed to expose young players to international football, help them adapt to different styles of play, and accelerate their long-term development. Yet people are being led to believe that this is a major competitive tournament where results alone define success. That completely misses the point of youth development. Success in Indian football should never be measured by U-13, U-14 or U-15 results. Those age groups exist to develop better footballers, not to satisfy social media narratives. The first level where competitive results genuinely begin to matter is the U-17 category and above, where India competes in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup and has the opportunity to qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. And when judged at that level, Bibiano Fernandes has already given Indian football moments that very few coaches have. In a football ecosystem where genuine success stories have been limited, Bibiano has consistently raised standards. Alongside coaches like Nushad Moosa, he belongs to a small group of coaches who have given Indian football fans reasons to believe that progress is possible. That is precisely why the level of disrespect directed towards him is so difficult to understand. Those who have actually worked with Bibiano, his players, colleagues, and people within the game, consistently speak about his humility, professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to develop young footballers. Unfortunately, those voices rarely travel as far on social media as outrage and misinformation. Criticism is a part of football. It always will be. But criticism should be based on facts, context, and footballing understanding, not on manipulated narratives or personal agendas. If you have genuinely followed Indian football over the years, these are the times to speak up. Silence allows misinformation to become accepted as truth. You don’t have to agree with every appointment or every decision. But you should never allow years of honest work, proven contribution, and the respect earned from generations of players to be erased by selective narratives. Indian football deserves better. And so does Bibiano Fernandes.
