The planters on our beautiful campus provide vibrant splashes of colour but they also conceal sustainable drainage systems that both keep things lush and green, and help us to research and manage surface water @UniofHull #SuDSlab
After a quick coffee break, we’re on with part 2 of our Creative Participatory Mapping session. Paper 4 is @Edward_Brookes_ et al on ‘Mapping Memories of Coastal Erosion’ on the E York coast, working with the @East_Riding Council’s Changing Coasts team
Paper 6 is @HannahWorthen and @AlexOsborne_Geo on ‘Water Data for People: Using Participatory Mapping for Socio-Hydraulic Modelling’. The project explores using data from monitored sustainable drainage schemes to engage communities & young people in #climateaction
Finally, another participatory session led by @christiankeeve on ‘Experiments in Deep Seed Time Mapping’. First Q: what’s your earliest or most significant memory of a seed? as an opening for exploring counter-cartographies of agrobiodiversity
Standing room only for a 9am session on the first morning of #rgs2024 for the Creative Participatory Mapping for Climate & Environmental Change session! First up: @criscapiner of University of Siena talking about participatory mapping and citizen science in Tuscany
Paper 3 is by @sforrest1, Aviv Kruglanski & co-authors on ‘Climate Dialogue Mapping for a Climate Resilient & Net Zero Hull’. Steven talks briefly about the project then gets everyone started with a hands on activity mapping our journeys to #RGSIBG24 this morning
Felt tip pens at the ready! Creative participatory mapping in practice in session 1 this morning, led by @sforrest1 #rgs2024 #climateaction #Hull #mapping #envhums
