🚨 LAKE POWELL JUST ROSE ANOTHER 1.5 FEET IN 24 HOURS. THE NUMBERS TELL A REMARKABLE STORY. Lake Powell continues to climb as floodwaters from the San Juan River pour into the reservoir, bringing a significant short-term boost to water levels. But here’s the perspective that really matters. 👇 📈 THE BIG PICTURE: • +1.5 feet in the past 24 hours • 170 feet below full pool • 15 feet below where we stood at this time in 2025 • 47 feet below 2024 levels Now consider this: Utah’s entire spring runoff raised Lake Powell by only about 2 feet this year. The recent surge in inflow is a powerful reminder of just how much water a major storm and flooding event can deliver to the Colorado River system. The San Juan River is a major tributary of the Colorado River, and when it runs high, a substantial volume of that water can eventually make its way into Lake Powell. The reservoir’s response depends on how much water reaches the lake, how long elevated flows persist, and how much water is simultaneously being released downstream. Here’s the reality: This is a significant rebound, but it does not erase the larger water deficit. Lake Powell remains roughly 170 feet below full pool, and we are still well behind the levels recorded over the past two years. The next several days will be important as we watch how much of this floodwater makes it into the reservoir and how quickly the lake continues to rise. Every foot matters. But the long-term water picture is about sustained inflow, snowpack, spring runoff and demand—not just a few days of rapid gains. I’ll keep tracking the numbers and breaking down what they mean for Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam and the Colorado River system.

Unpopular opinion: I am a small government proponent and believe the larger the gov't the less the freedom. There is no question that overspending and taxing eventually leads to socialism or some other form of totalitarianism, if unchecked, simply because of the central allocation of resources and claims on private property in the form of taxation. But, I also believe the constant denegration of capitalist societies that chose to have higher levels of social spending as "socialist" has been a large self own by conservatives. It has allowed people like the Democratic Socialists (and others) to Yankee-doodle the term "Socialism" and own it for public consumption--a "mixed economy" fake out that only wants to help people. Underlying democratic socialism is a strong vein of central control of the economy, limitations on private property (or complete deconstruction of it) and cultural/morality management policies. Those dangerous facts have been lost largely because we softened the term.

Why is Barack Obama still talking? Literally no one cares. He's like that guy at the holiday party who drinks too much and picks up the mic to give a speech. And everyone’s wondering, ‘Why is this guy talking AGAIN?’”

I remember all of us having a good laugh over all the anti D&D news. Yeah, it's really dangerous to have kids sitting around a table rolling dice and drinking copious amounts of soft drinks. The caffeine alone could have caused a deadly chemical reaction. 😆

One of the funniest moments in A Knight’s Tale (2001) reportedly happened completely by accident during filming in Prague. The production used local Czech extras to portray the medieval crowd, but many of them didn’t understand English. So when Paul Bettany, playing Geoffrey Chaucer, delivered his increasingly dramatic introduction of “Sir Ulrich,” the audience had no idea what he was saying—or when they were supposed to cheer. As Bettany continued his elaborate speech, a few extras can even be seen preparing to celebrate before realizing he wasn’t finished. When he finally stopped talking, the entire crowd remained awkwardly silent. That’s when Mark Addy, playing Roland, stepped in with an improvised, enthusiastic “YEAH!” His unexpected shout gave the confused extras the signal they needed, and the crowd suddenly erupted into applause. The moment worked so perfectly that filmmakers reportedly decided to leave it in the final cut rather than reshoot the scene. What looks like a brilliantly scripted comedic exchange was actually a spontaneous reaction to a language barrier, proving that sometimes the most memorable movie moments happen entirely by accident.
